There are many trials and failures in this study but, the researchers didn’t give
up, and continued to work until they got the ideal one.
They proved that herbal plants are the most effective way in healing diseases
such as muscle pains because, it is organic and it has no side effects compared to the
pharmaceuticals now.

II – Introduction
Muscle pains are familiar to us, especially in adults. This because, of hard work
and employment. If this minor disease can’t be treated, it will bring us to inflammation,
such as poliomyelitis.
The researchers planned this matter to rise up again the old folks such as the
sambong, ginger, and the cayenne to remind also the people that herbal plants are the
basic form of healing illness. On the other hand the researchers would also like to use
those herbal plants as herbal liniment to help those people to whom are stressed to

All living and non living things have its own purpose. Just like the herbal plants. It
can cure many diseases in an affordable price. So the researchers decided to conduct a

General intention:
Specific intention
sicknesses.
This study states, the questions that might interesting on our minds:
1.) What are the components of sambong leaves that can give muscle pains?
2.) Does the too consumption of the extract can cause baneful effects on our
health?
6
III. Review and literature and Conceptual Framework
Blumea balsamifera is used as an herbal treatment for the common cold and as a

b.) Conceptual framework and Variables
The figure shows the relationship between the independent variable and dependent
variable.
The efficiency of the product as a liniment depends on the kind of herbal plants and
its chemical composition.
8
c) Hypothesis
The more sambong leaf extract are used, the more healing strength will be
offered by it.
If the sambong extract are added with other indigenous herbal plants,

Mortar
Boiling pot
Clean clothes
Jars

o Gabon
Crush the Gabon and ginger and get their extract then boil.
Drain the extract to make sure that there was no left crushed ginger

V - TRIALS CONDUCTED
Trial 1
- Ginger
- Gabon
Unfortunately trial 1, has failed. It was stored for 2-3 days but it produces a foul
odor. Consumers would like to use it and apply it to their skin, they will have a stinky
skin.
11
Trial 2
- Ginger
- Gabon
Trial 2, has also failed. The substance didn’t mix. The ginger extract was floating
but still the researchers will find ways to be able to achieve their goals.
12
Trial 3
- Ginger
- Gabon
Boil the Gabon(leaves) after boiling get it’s leaves then place the crush
ginger
Drain the extract to make sure that there was no left crushed ginger
Place in a container
Let it cool.
Trial 3, worked but still there should be more improvement. We still need a lot of
gabon to make it more green and more ginger to make it more soothing when it is
applied to the skin. So, we will be increasing the number of gabon and ginger and

Trial 4
- Ginger
- Gabon
Place the gabon in the pot without putting water let it boil with its own fluid.
Trial 4 has failed; the mixture was so sticky and instead of aiming to look like a
liniment but it looks like a lubricant. But despite what happened the proponents will still

Trial 5
Crush the Gabon and ginger and get their extract then boil.
Drain the extract to make sure that there was no left crushed ginger
On our trial 5, at last it was succeeded. It’s not that sticky and it’s very effective. It
has soothing feeling when applied to the skin, and this time it is a lot greener.

The table shows the qualitative data of the proponent’s experiment. Trial 1 and 2
had failed because of its stinky odor while Trial 3 is nearer to what they’ve expected.
So, they found ways in solving those problems. They tried their planned ideas in Trial 4
but it doesn’t work. Fortunately, in Trial 5, it was not stinky when it will be applied to our
skin.

VII – Recommendation
The researchers recommend to use sambong leaves which are newly sprout,
baby ginger and cayenne (it could be ripe or not) so that the liniment could contain the
necessary minerals. The proponents would also recommend using many sambong than

VIII – Conclusion
The researchers concluded that blumea balsamifera (sambong) and along with
other indigenous plants like: zingeber officinale (ginger) and capsicum fastigiatum
blume (cayenne) are effective to use as an herbal linim. Blumea balsamifera is one of
the herbal plants here in the Philippines and approved by the PDOH (Philippine

IX - Acknowledgment
First and foremost, we, the researchers would like to thank our creator, God the
Almighty for giving us good health, wisdom and knowledge to conduct this study.
Without Him we won’t able to have the strength and courage to perform this experiment.
To our parents, who showed great support and consideration for us for being so busy.
Our research mentor, Mrs.Melende Clarion for guiding, believing and encouraging us to
continue in our study inspite of many failures and difficulties. We would also like to
extend our appreciation to Mrs. Lemcie Dy our class adviser for sharing her ideas and
opinions about the project. The students from the section III- Calla lily, namely, Janna
Pauline Pueblas and Hanna Lyka Bontilao, who exerted efforts in monitoring our
research and gave us the ideas on doing this, since we are beginners. The
Doctolero,Aspacio and Soria’s residence for letting us conduct our study in their abode.
Words are not enough how grateful we are to have you as an inspiration of our project.
