To Whom It May Concern:

I had the pleasure of having Johnevia Deckard as a student in my English I Honors class and PALs (Peer
Assistance Leadership) class at Langham Creek High School. Johnevia was more than the ideal student. In
order to achieve the highest grades and my deepest respect, she demonstrated outstanding leadership and
upheld a clear sense of purpose while at Langham Creek.

While at Langham, Johnevia was an active leader on campus. She was a member of PALs and a manager
for the girls’ basketball team. In both of these roles, she was a leader who was responsible, consistent and
honest. Her peers and my fellow colleagues could depend on Johnevia for a number of things. Johnevia’s
peers also had trust in Johnevia, as she was a very good friend to all who knew her.

In addition to having Johnevia as a student, we have maintained in contact and built a personal and
professional relationship. Johnevia is one of the most reliable and responsible young ladies I have the
pleasure of knowing.

All of the aforementioned attributes and experiences have translated into Johnevia becoming a promising
future educator. While in PALs, she worked with students of various grade levels, students with varying
socioeconomic statuses, and students who have varying levels of academic ability. This included working
once a week with Life Skills students at Langham Creek High School. In these various situations with
students, Johnevia always maintained a positive attitude and never gave up. This is something that will take
her far in life and in education. Johnevia is also a problem solver. I witnessed this when playing a game in
PALs, working with students as a mentor, or as a student in my English I Honors class. If she did not
understand something, she was more than willing to seek out assistance. Again, this is an attribute that will
take Johnevia far in education and life. Having the ability to seek help and accept advice is something I see
seasoned educators struggle with. Seeing Johnevia take responsibility for herself and her actions, seek
assistance, and accept criticisms shows how great of an asset she would be to any campus.

Since her classmates, my fellow teachers, and I will always hold her in the highest esteem, I sincerely
recommend Johnevia Deckard as an ideal educator for any campus.

Respectfully submitted,
