BEST SCHOOLS IN TEACHING MATHEMATICS (BESTMATH) IN REGION 111


FOR SY 2019-2020

To Schools Division Superintendents

1. This is to announce the search for the Best Schools in Teaching Mathematics
(BeSTMATH) in Region Ill for school year 2019-2020. The project is a regional
initiative to improve the quality of teaching and learning Mathematics in all
schools in the region.

2. The project is divided into four (4) phases:


a.) Phase 1 - Consultative Meeting/Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with the
Division Education Program Supervisors (EPSs) in charge of Mathematics
regarding the mechanics on August 27, 2019;
b.) Phase 2 - Submission of list of entries;
c.) Phase 3 - On-site Validation; and
d.) Phase 4 - Awarding

3. The project aims to:


a. recognize and appreciate the importance, power and beauty of
mathematics;
b.) develop abstract, logical, critical thinking and the ability to reflect upon
the learner's work and the work of others and in any given situation;
c.) identify, concretize, symbolize and use mathematical relationships in
everyday life;
d.) appreciate the role, value and use of Mathematics in the society; and
e.) develop a positive attitude towards learning Mathematics.

4. The project is open to all public elementary and junior high schools within
Region 3. Plaque of recognition shall be awarded to top 3 BestMath Schools,
top 3 Best Math Laboratory, top 3 Best Math Garden, top 1 Best Math Corner
in both Elementary and Junior High Schools in Region Ill. The awarding

Ill on November 26, 2019.

5. Attachment No. l is the Monitoring and Evaluation (M & E) Tool for the said
activity.
