EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The need to undertake a feasibility study for the construction of in International
Convention centre to be developed in Nagpur, Maharashtra was identified by
Government of Maharashtra in the year 2019. The students of Architecture &
Planning department of VNIT, Nagpur under the guidance of senior faculty member
Ar. Vilas Bakde were recruited to perform this feasibility study. Development Plan
2012-2032 specified in The Draft Development Plan Report issued by Nagpur
Improvement Trust aided the process of site selection.
The feasibility study was conducted was conducted in April 2019. It included the
formation of steering committee, field views, public surveys, meetings, engineering
practices, proposed food court facility designs and the generation of a feasibility
study report.
PROJECT BACKGROUND:
The feasibility study report summarizes the project goals, site analysis, legal
feasibility of indicated sites and the usage feasibility of a newly constructed
International Convention Centre with respect to the peripheral community in
comparison to demographic needs, the number & types of convention centre
facilities already existing in the Nagpur.

The goal envisioned by the Govt of Maharashtra for developing this convention
centre is in the interest of the Nation to provide a platform for conducting
conferences, workshops, seminars & research on a global level. The study
uncovered that the citizens were interested to welcome an International Convention
Centre in the city to collaborate with people from all around the world. With the
metropolitan development of Nagpur, this convention centre will be a potential space
for generation & exchange of ideas, thus enabling economic progress of the city.
This centre would house a self-sustaining food court catering the needs of
convention centre attendees thus providing the most preferred national &
international cuisines in a healthy & hygienic environment.
The study included multiple alternative locations and scenarios for an International
Convention Centre. After a considerable research, it was determined that site
located in Manish Nagar was the most feasible option to accomodate an
International Convention Centre in Nagpur. The project cost will be funded by the
Govt. of Maharashtra to alleviate the potential development of Nagpur.
