Reaching long-distance destinations always depends on your awareness of the distance you are going to

walk, the time you will spend walking, the directions you should take and how many times you should
take a break so you can be there on time.
That can be done smoothly when you have all these points in mind as an example a runner.

Goals are a part of every aspect of business/life and provide a sense of direction, motivation, high
concentration and more clarification. By setting goals for yourself, you are providing yourself with a
target to aim for. A SMART goal is used to help guide goal setting. SMART is a shortcut that stands for
Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely. Therefore, a SMART goal incorporates all of these
criteria to help focus your efforts and increase the chances of achieving that goal.
SMART :
1. Specific : what will be done exactly? and the way to accomplish it.
2. Measurable : what information will size the goal?
3. Achievable : is the goal workable? do you have what it takes?
4. Relevant : how does the goal line up with boarder goals? doesn't conflict with them.
5. Time-bound : how much time do you need for accomplishing the goal? Set a date to finish and don't
cross it.

and we will see all of these in the coming example "Runner" who wants to achieve a certain goal of
finishing an 8km per hour marathon.
by practicing for three hours per day , living a healthy life style, pushing himself to the limit to reach his
goal which is breaking the speed of 8km per hour in the duration of four months.

What are SMART criteria?

• Specific: What I am going to do, with whom, where it will happen, and why ..
This includes determining the reason of choosing this objective.

To be specific an objective should have a description of a precise or specific behavior,

achievement or outcome which is or can be related to a percentage, frequency, rate or number.

To increase specificity when writing objectives use verbs which are action-orientated to describe
those actions which need to be taken to fulfill objectives.

Exp:
• A runner that should run at a speed of 8 km per hour at a staduim on the 15th of December..
He's running a marathon to raise money for a charity

• Measurable : its about being able to measure and determine our curent position and situation
along the steps taken to reach our main goal.
data collecting and information management are important tools to help us get accurate results and
reports.
