THE PARABLE OF JESUS

Parable Name: Two Foundations Passage: Matthew 7:24-29

"Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise
man who built his house on rock. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and
buffeted the house. But it did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock.

And everyone who listens to these words of mine but does not act on them will be
like a fool who built his house on sand. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds
blew and buffeted the house. And it collapsed and was completely ruined." When Jesus
finished these words, the crowds were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as
one having authority, and not as their scribes.”

4. What is the purpose of Jesus in giving this Parable?

 To address his followers, to offer a standard of judgment and strict guidance
in being an obedient and righteous Christian and this also applies to all of us.

5. Meaning/Message
 It gives emphasis to the importance and necessity of building our own lives on
the obedience (proper foundation) to the teachings and examples of Jesus.
Not just hearing them, but doing them also.
 We must not be blinded by the earthly temptations in front of us, let us stray
from the path of disobedience (sand foundation) and immediately go back to
the path God made for us.

6. Reflection/Relevance to me:
 Today’s normality, it seems it wants me to do the polar opposite of what God
wants us to do. It makes me turn away from God’s words and teachings.
Through that, it influences my own feelings and thoughts to do the exact
opposite of what the Bible teaches.
 But after reading this parable, it strengthened my resolve to firmly be like the
Wise builder. I may waver yet I will not crumble despite the challenges,
pressures and tests of life since I genuinely have faith in Heavenly Father,
Jesus Christ and in the Holy Ghost. After being obedient and passing through
all tribulations I know a worthwhile reward/blessing is waiting for me.

7. The Parables always challenge us to change the way we live. After reading
this parable, what can you change in your life in response to Jesus’ words?
 To never question the ways of God just trusting the process and Him.
 To be always obedient to the commandments, to my covenant and to His
words.
 To live a life according to His will, so I will be worthy in standing by His side.

8. Commitment:
 I promise to go and do every God’s words and teachings, I may waver but will
never falter, I will continue to follow the path of truth and righteousness
