VALUE OF COMMUNICATION

a. Within members of the family

Communication involves the ability to pay attention to what others are thinking
and feeling. In other words, an important part of communication is not just talking, but
listening to what others have to say. Communication is a tool that is quite effective in
building a family with characteristics of being strong, bonded and healthy. Research
proves that communication is a significant stepping stone of a strong marital/parital,
parent-child, and sibling relationships. Communication involves and allows the ability to
pay attention to what others are thinking and feeling. It does not only allow us to just talk
but also listen to what others are meaning to say.

Communication within the family is immensely important since it allows the

members to freely express and share their wants, needs, concerns and problems to
each other. Communication that is honest, faithful and open creates an ambiance that
allows the members of the family to express their differences, love, intimacy and
admiration for one another. It allows family members to solve unavoidable problems,
arguments, fights and misunderstandings that arise in all families. In a strong and
healthy family effective communication is needed. Rather than in poor communication it
gives birth to unhealthy family relationships.

Without proper communication such as being unclear and indirect it leads to a

great number of family problems. For example; too much family arguments, ineffective
& inefficient problem solving solutions, lack of bonding and weak relationships.
Realizing the importance of communication within the family will assist you in knowing
that while sweeping things under the rug may be easier, but it’s not the wisest thing to
do in the long run.
To further reinforce my answer, here are the 4 reasons why:

Reason no. 1 – It gives insights on situations

Each family member has their own perspective on how to solve their situations.
Even if it’s annoying or difficult in hearing the point of views of your family members it is
still beneficial in hearing their side or opinion on the situation. This allows the person
having the problem gain multiple knowledge and insights about the issue and make an
informed and sound decision.

Reason no. 2 – Its boosts support

Living in this problematic world, where challenges emerge left and right a good
family support is needed in tough times. Having a good communication within the
members help each other understand their sufferings and challenges thus, being able to
give the right support needed.

Reason no. 3 – Solves problems

Due to miscommunications, issues arise within the family members. Being able
to openly communicate and talk about the specific problem helps them find the suitable
answers.

Reason no. 4 – Understanding is achieved

Being able to communicate enables the family members to share their beliefs,
values and morals and let them learn about the side of others. Even if they disagree
about it, by being open-minded they slowly understand why that person sided to that
reason. Thus, being able to appreciate and know them better.

b. Within friends/peers

How do we define friendship? Friends are people who are always there whether
in good or tough times in life. Friendships are a source of strength, a place where
people can place their trust, a person who has always been there when no one else
was. They play an important role in our lives, sometimes they become more important
than family.

Having a clear communication lets people become friends with others easily.
Nevertheless, it depends on them whether they stay or not. Whether they’ll have a solid
friendship that will last, having communication as a tool can let them openly and
honestly share their thoughts and feelings which equals to gaining trust with each other.
Their relationship with their friends can be further strengthened through proper
communication. It lets them feel more and more at ease with each other, creating
opportunities in monitoring emotional depths of the friendship. It compels them and their
friends to desire in being honest and reveals raw emotions and thoughts.

As time flies by, the bond between friends may falter, or simply drift away and
may need some recharging or rebinding. In solving cases such as these,
communication is needed for the reaffirmation of thoughts and feelings for one
another. To clearly state one’s intentions and not just easily ignoring or giving up to
the situation that bothers their friendship. Additionally, they can do this by discussing
random or intimate topics that once were touched upon briefly or ignored in the past.

Small differences that are left alone can lead to bigger arguments. This results to
the faltering of friendship which can be cured by doing proper communication.
Taking their time out to sit down and talk about it. As they grow and learn together
they will find out new things about each other. They will develop and improve in
different ways. They will bring out the best and worst in each other which can result
in a different opinion about friendship. Always communicating one’s needs and
wants is the most important aspect in a relationship. It’s not always easy, but by
being clear, open and honest leads to a healthy, real and strong foundation of
friendship.

c. Within superiors/heads of office

Inside a working environment, communication is also very essential within the

companies. Since it allows them to be productive & operative efficiently and effectively.
Employees can experience a boost in their morale, increase commitment if they are
able to communicate openly and honestly, up and down the communication chain in an
organization. A strong and tight communication will always be a priority for H.R. When it
comes to offering benefits, especially it helps employees better understand their
choices, they will be more capable of making sound and informed decisions, and
appreciate and utilize the benefits one can access through their employers.

Having communication as a foundation, it’s most significant benefit in the working

industry is the ability to resolve the issues before they snowball into much more
bigger/major problems. It is important to create effectivity and efficiency for the team;
such as motivating employees, inspire them to open dialogues and express their ideas,
and by creating an environment where collaborative learning and problem-solving
exists. One of the key players in establishing clear lines of communication are
managers within the company. They go the extra mile in communicating with the
employees. Thus, being able to produce a productive and satisfying work. If poor
communication exists in a workplace, unmotivated employees are inevitable. They will
question their own self-esteem and confidence in doing work. That is why managers
must utilize communication properly in order to build alliances, and communication in all
levels of the organization. If communication is effective, barriers will be torn down, which
encourages a collaborative atmosphere that an organization needs.

Here are 3 vital reasons why strong communication is needed within a business:

1. Teamwork/Team Building - Being able to communicate and collaborate together

builds an effective team. . By establishing effective strategies will in turn improve
morale and employee satisfaction.

2. Strong management - When superiors are strong communicators they will be

able to manage teams. In task delegation, managing conflicts, motivation and
relationship building are all much easier when superiors are strong
communicators. It gives the ability to speak to people, empowers others to speak
to each other.

3. Ability to Voice out - Having communication, employees can voice out their
problems and concerns to their superiors which they have the right to . It also
includes ideas or complaints the employees needs to make. A well-established
line of communication should enable everyone, regardless of their level, the
ability to openly and honestly communicate with their peers, colleagues and
superiors.
