Project Title Nothing New

Section 1: Rationale (approx 150 words)

My main focus for the last two years of this Creative Media course has been to find what
specifically interests me in the world of TV and Film. I have been late to find this interest
but fortunate to find it before specialist study. I have always been torn between Post-
production and cinematography. But in the past units I have been pulled towards a
cinematography pathway. I enjoy a more hand on experience that comes with operating a
camera. I still enjoy post-production and using software’s like aftereffects. However, I find I
get more frustrated when editing then using a camera hence the decision to pursue a more
on set, camera route.

I chose camera mounts for my specialist which are a complex part to cinematography.
Gimbals are going to be the most used mount in my drama as I want to achieve a lot of
satisfying tracking shots and complex movements to create something visually appealing.

Section 2: Project Concept (approx 200 words)

My project will be a detective drama that will be filmed on a range of camera mounts and
incorporate s range of techniques to convey different messages. I will mainly be exploring
the theme of crime in my drama and how it can affect different people especially the
younger generation. My research will be based around crime involving young people but
more specifically county lines. My main focus for this film’s technicality is the camera work.
After writing my specialist study, which went in depth about camera mounts, I decided this
will be the focus for my final project. A drama would be a good way to showcase this
knowledge and my skillset. I will have all the equipment I need for this film especially a
gimbal. I may struggle to get actors but have my family that I can use.

The drama will begin with my detectives arriving at a crime scene. They will get out of their
car and walk to a back garden where the crime has taken place. A young boy has died after
evading the police by vaulting a row of fences. In the process he has slipped and punctured
his chest leading to his death. The two detectives are there to work out the cause of his
death and the actions that lead to it.

Section 3: Evaluation Methods (approx 150 words)

Throughout this project I will be evaluating each piece of work I do and how it will affect my
final project. At the end of each week I will do a sit rep to talk about the situation of my
project and what I will need to do in the upcoming weeks. Doing this will help me organise
my week and help me understand what I need to be doing instead of spending time
working this out. My decisions should be analysed to decide whether they were helpful to
my project.

At the end of this project I will have a final evaluation analysing all that has been involved
in this project. I will have assessed my ability to make a sound film and have all the
production values to make this successful. I will focus on making each evaluation analytical
instead of a description.

Project Action Plan and Timetable
This section provides you with an opportunity to outline your planning and organisation over a period of weeks,
and the activities you will need to carry out in order to successful complete your project within the agreed time
frame. It is important that you consider how you will balance ambition, time and realism in the realisation of the
project.
This should include what you are going to do, how you will do it and by when. The more time and thought you
give to
planning your project, the more successful it is likely to be. Remember to include: time spent sourcing materials,
questionnaires, access to workshops, tutorial and peer group feedback, and where you will incorporate
independent study
