Weaving Alligator

1st Grade

Day 1: Paint Background


❏ Read “There’s an Alligator Under My Bed”
❏ Demo painting and line designs in paper
❏ Paint 18” x 12” paper with green, yellow & blue paint
❏ Gold paint last
❏ Draw designs in paper (use back of brush to make designs)
❏ Paint fast
● After class cut paper in 3 pieces (make sure to label all 3 pieces)

Day 2: Loom
❏ Make loom for alligator Body (plain green paper)
❏ Cut one of the small papers into 1” strips
❏ Weave painted paper & glue both sides

Day 3: Tail, Head & Feet


❏ Use other 2 painted papers
❏ Big paper (Tail) Draw pencil lines on white side of paper
❏ Smaller Paper (Head)
❏ Extras (feet, put papers together to make feet same)
❏ Glue to weaving paper

Day 4: Facial Features & Details


❏ Make eyes (circles- black & white)
❏ Teeth (triangles)
❏ Paint gold details on plain green squares

Materials Needed:
18” x 12” White Paper
8.5” x 11” green paper
Paint (Green, yellow, Blue & gold)
Scissors & Glue
Construction Paper (white & Black)
