There’s been plenty of hand-wringing and

gnashing of teeth over how Tinder could
reinvent dating: Maybe it would transform
the dating scene into an endless virtual
marketplace where singles could shop for
each other (like an Amazon for human
companionship), or perhaps it would turn
dating into a minimal-effort, transactional
pursuit of on- demand hookups

BIG CONCEPT
The very essence of dating apps has changed
the way office romance is perceived and
accepted. Thus, we begin to see issues
revolving around professional policies
regarding workplace “relationships” and the
disruptive impact of using an organization’s
network for personal connections.
13

Employees accessing these applications on personal or

company-issued phones can expose a company’s
sensitive information. Some dating apps can also
display advertisements, which means ad networks
using supply code to insert ads in their apps are
vulnerable to hacking. Bluetooth capabilities open up
those devices to hacking as well. Moreover, dating
apps support in-app purchasing to unlock bonus
features or matches, and company devices may be tied
to a company credit card or payment account

Tinder recently wrapped production on a secret

TV series which will launch on the popular dating
app as early as October 2019. Set in a
pre-apocalyptic world, the series will utilize the
app’s famous swiping feature as part of a
choose-your-own-adventure style narrative. And
while the show will first air on Tinder, sources
close to the project told Variety that producers
are eyeing a potential streaming deal after
release
