PRODUCT MANUAL
In commerce, supply chain management
(SCM), the management of the flow of
goods and services, involves the
movement and storage of raw materials,
of work-in-process inventory, and of
finished goods from point of origin to

The main four products concentrated

MATERIAL
INSPECTION
This is the first stage of inspection where the basic
composition of the material is verified. Based on the
composition of the material, the product is color
coded. This color coding helps with identification of
material with ease.
After identification of material composition, further
METROLOGY tests are conducted. They are:
• SCANNING ELECTRON MICROSCOPE (SEM)
• HARDNESS TEST
• HEAT TREATMENT
PRODUCTION

The production department will be handed over


with the manufacturing drawings and details
procedures by the design team. Once the raw
material inspection and heat treatment is
completed, the main manufacturing process
begins.
Once the machining process starts, the
workpiece goes through various operations under
different machining conditions. Various machines
used for processing are:
• Vertical Turning Lathe Machine
• CNC Vertical Turning Lathe Machine
• WIDMA Vertical Lathe
• LIEBHERR Hobbing Machine
• Gleason Pfauter Machine
• CNC Profile Grinding
ASSEMBLY

Now that everything is ready, it’s time for the last part of
the process which is to assemble and test the complete
gear box. During the process of assembly, there are
enormous factors to be considered. There is an
instruction sheet which will be given by the design team
of Triveni Engineering that has to be followed whilst
preparing for the assembly of a gear box.
During the process of assembly, there are some gear
parameters that are considered critical which might be
the reason for failure of gear box. They are:
• Gear meshing parameter
• Tooth contact
• Backlash
• Bearing clearance
TESTING
The most important step of the manufacturing
process is the testing of the manufactured gear
box at the working conditions. The gear box is
tested with same load which it will be facing at
the working level. This complete process as done
based on design document which is supplied by
the design team.
The testing operation is conducted for 4 hours on
different machines.
• A 200kW DC motor is used for 4 to 5 MW gear
box
• A 600kW DC motor is used for 13 MW gear
box
• A 1600kW DC motor is used for 92MW gear
box
There is a testing section for bought out products
like bearing, fasteners, motors and other various
items. They products are tested based on the
inspection sheet provided by the design team.
CONCLUSION

During the internship of one month at M/s TRIVENI ENGINEERING & INDUSTRIES LTD.,
• I was made to observe the work process of various departments in the organization.
• I was assigned to visit the shop floor every day to make important observations
pertaining to the ongoing machining and forging processes.
• Different shop floor specific components had to be inspected and important
parameters such machining time, process flow diagram, process diagrams, design
functions, heat treatment process, metrology process, assembly and testing process
were to be carefully observed.
• The internship at Triveni Engineering & Industries helped me analyze and understand
a manufacturing cycle and the process flow of a manufacturing process.
