INTRODUCTION

Cinema hall or the movie theatres were the places where audiences or the movie
attendees are transported to another world, showing a glimpse of parallel universe of life we
all have. It is a place where audiences stay for 110 minutes or an hour and 50 minutes long
flood of fantastic images. There are different types of cinema where there are regular seats
that is usually used in common cinema halls and there are also the ones with reclining chairs
to make the movie attendees feel more relax and comfortable just like they are watching
form their homes but with a lot larger screen and have a company who has the same taste of
movie like themselves. It was in 1930’s and 1940’s when the booming of cinema building
which ornated and extravagant interior design created an environment different from our
regular living rooms.

But the movie theatre business is not a steady ride like we all know because cinemas
are the most popular type of entertainment, but rather it is always changing they’ll fluctuate
or struggle, the movie theatre as we know is poised to die a slow, mostly peaceful death. just
like now the box office is down compared to the past few years because of their competition
with the new types of entertainment like our television, CD’s, laptop, computers and phones
that contain apps like Netflix which is much way more cheaper than going to the movie
theatre but it’s not a free entertainment, because a subscription also cost money but you’ll
feel thrifty because in Netflix you can download lot of films and watch it anytime you like and
there are also films that has a lot of episode or more known as series like 13 reasons why,
Riverdale, friends, how I met your mother and even k dramas are also available on Netflix
the movies shown from the cinemas are also getting feature and who wouldn’t want that
right? Now, cinema and Netflix battle are getting tougher and tougher because that battle will
be also joined by Disney+, Apple+, and many more that even Hollywood is worried. In this
case, if Hollywood is struggling how much more the smaller film studios that produces
regular quality of movies.

However, as cinemas faces this kind of threat, an Art House Convergence surveyed
about the value of their theatre and 65% of the 22,500 movie attendees said that their local
art house theatre has a significant value in the overall quality of their lives.

The overall appearance of the cinema buildings affects the marketing of a movie
theatre, which according the research there are higher percentage of movie attendees in
cinemas that are well designed. The movie theater design is changing quickly as audiences
or movie attendees standard are getting higher for their comfort and entertainment or the
technical presentation. Movie theaters gives us a vibe no place can ever give us like
cinemas do, how people romanticize the darken room with booming sound system,
comfortable seats, and giant screens, that is the magic of movie theaters that can only be
felt right there. It is something moviegoers wanted to feel, to be immersed in such new world
away and different from the reality.

The proposed cinema or the Philippine Millenial Cineplex is not just a cinema/ movie
theatre alone but it was built together with an amusement center the said cinema will have a
multipurpose outdoor cinema that will also serve as an event center in case the amusement
have a celebration. The designers wanted to introduce the open air outdoor cinema to the
moviegoers of Naga City, Camarines Sur and let them experience how it felt like watching
movie you love together with nature. An amusement center was chosen as a partner
because the significance the designers are trying to imply is that it will serve as an
entertainment for the family, friends, co-workers, and even for school purposes, in any case
will not give the attendees a hard time choosing where to go to enjoy their bonding time
because there a lot of ways to enjoy in this place. The outdoor cinema is a perfect place and
dreamy for couples who loves going romantic places and want to have picnic and watch
movie under the star.

The Philippine Millenial Cineplex is located at the lot along the Almeda highway, 800
meters away from Robinsons Mall.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
DESIGN OBJECTIVE

The design objective for the Philippine Millenial Cineplex indoor cinema that are to
help the marketing plan since we all know that the current standing of cinema buildings or
the movie theatre are in slump and are needed to be boosted, the features includes the
Total view seating an obstructed view are to be use, the preferred seating arrangement is
sloping auditorium so everyone even audiences from the back can see the screen, high
quality chair design for the audience where its features are high backs for comfortable
leaning, non-tipping squabs, adjustable armrest because not everyone is at ease to have
something beside them that would make them feel tight, double seats perfect for couples
who likes being close together, multi-sensory seats that vibrates and move to the action of
the film, generous leg room good for tall people and a holder for drinks. One of the
proposed objectives for the cinema is to have high standard of disability access.

The box type interior type of the cinema will have some twist to give some depth to
the interiors because a little distraction is not bad and might help to give aesthetic vibe for
the cinema.

And as for the Outdoor cinema

The proposed cinema will accommodate a total of 1000 movie attendees and will be
having 3 cinema rooms and 1 outdoor cinema accommodating 250 persons each
