This report aims to discuss the importance of waste management in a country. The proper disposal
of waste is very important and should be n priority of every state to introduce policies in order to
aware the public about its importance. The types of waste has been discussed and solution has been
presented in order to make amendments. The scope of this report is to focus on the solutions to get
rid of environmental pollution once for all. Serious contribution is needed from nation to control the
waste management.

Introduction
Waste refers to the rubbish and disposal of any kind that is trashed by humans. Waste can be
biodegradable or non-biodegradable. The environmental dilemmas like global warming and flash
flood are mainly caused by humans due to their misconduct regarding waste management. People
now-a-days do not hesitate to dispose waste at any place and their misbehaviour leads to have such
a bad impact on environment.
Waste management practices can vary for countries who are develop or developing, for urban and
rustic zones, and for private and modern makers. Management of non-risky waste private and
institutional waste in metropolitan zones is generally is the duty of government specialists, while
management for non-dangerous business and modern waste is the obligation of the generator
subject to nearby, national or global controls. Each individual should assume the liability of dealing
with their wastes appropriately. Open mindfulness crusades are basic instruments for condition
assurance. Therefore, there is actually a need to urge the individuals to be a piece of this goal,
ensuring our condition through legitimate waste management (Williams, 2014).
Scope of report
The purpose of writing the report is to highlight the importance of waste management. The scope of
the report is to make people realize about the environmental damage through wrong disposal of
waste.
Methodology
The report was conducted through secondary data collection method. The data was gathered
through different mediums. The sources of data collection was journals, internet and books.

Main Body
Classification of waste
Figure 1 Classification of waste ("Waste -Types of Waste | Sources of Waste | Recycling of Waste", 2020)
Biodegradable waste
It involves the garbage produced from kitchen, gardens and restaurants food wastes. The most
important factor of biodegradable can be decomposed after a while.
Non-biodegradable waste
It involves the garbage like broken glass, plastic, old newspaper etc. it also refers to dry garbage
which can be recycled as it did no decompose by itself (Bernstad, 2014).
Types of waste
4
The presentation was about the wrong disposal of waste and its miss management. There are
various types of waste produced by humans. As per the graph, New Zealand is responsible to
generate 2.5 million ton of waste that is dumped into landfills. As shown in fig 1, each type of waste
has its negative impact on the environment and climate.

2020)
5
The main aim is the disposal of waste accordingly in order to reuse and recycle maximum products.
The following are the types of wastes which are producing daily:
Liquid waste
The waste water comes from houses industries or other different places refers to as liquid waste. It
include the fats, oil and grease, gases, chemicals and other dangerous liquids comes from
households. They have serious impact on human health and environment. The sewerage system is
also included in liquid waste.
Solid waste
Solid waste includes the dumping of any material like metal, rubber, glass, plastic, fabric or any other
solid thing. Each type of this are not dissolvable in soil hence it cause dangerous situation in term of
eco-friendly environment.
Organic waste
Organic waste contributed to 28% in the total waste of NZ. Organic waste is biodegradable which
means it comes from humans and animals. It comes from the rotten vegetable, rotten meat, rotten
vegetables etc. and can be used as a fertilizer for plants.
Hazardous waste
The waste in the form of solid, liquid and gaseous comes from industries. Having the properties of
corrosiveness, ignitability, reactivity and toxicity. It is utmost important to treat them before the
industries dumped into stream or rivers. As they have toxic effects on human health and
environment.
6
Toxicity of waste
The local authority and state did not pay heed on limiting the industries production day by day. The
industries are responsible of producing the toxic gases and chemicals and end up dumping into the
streams and rivers. These chemicals and gases are of dangerous substance which can cause life
threatening harm to humans and animals.
Ever-growing landfills
Most landfills need fitting close by squander the executives thusly adding to additional perils to the
earth. Eventually, landfills spill and grimy ground water and other neighbouring environmental
normal surroundings making waste administration irksome. They moreover transmit conceivably
dangerous gases.
There is no proper system of checking and monitoring the situation of landfills. Hence the
government should make proper amendments to limit dumping into landfills.
7
The importance of reducing and recycling should be practised to make the proper use of everything.
Moreover, the repairing should be done like pipe leakage etc. to fix the broken things. Perhaps the
most effortless approaches to reuse what we as of now have is to look to our pack storage room.
The greater part of us convey home packs from the supermarket a few times each week. In the
event that you can supplant your plastic utilization with only 6-8 reusable packs, you would not need
to reconsider it for a year or more. In any event, when you bring home paper or plastic sacks, ensure
you dry them out, overlap them up and take them back to the store with you next time.
8
Conclusion
The report is concluded with the fact that waste problem is becoming real and causing us to live n
toxic climate. It has spread various problems and responsible of climate change throughout the
world. Misbehaviour regarding waste disposal by humans can cause serious damage to eco-system.
Moreover, with the rise of landfills government is facing huge challenge to accommodate waste
disposal.
Duty regarding overseeing waste removal in New Zealand is to a great extent in the hands of
neighbourhood specialists who oversee landfills, deny assortments, sewerage and storm water
frameworks, air contamination releases, and the evaluation and tidy up of sullied locales. Now and
then these errands are attempted straightforwardly by the specialists. Once in a while they are
contracted out to private administrators.
Recommendation
As a nation it’s the duty to save the earth and environment from hazardous elements in order to
enjoy the perk of life. Hence the duty is to educate the nation about the importance of waste
management is very important. As per the presentation, the following recommendation has been
observed:
1. Educating people about three R’s i.e. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.
2. The waste should be categorized and must be dumped in the proper bins to make it
decomposed.
3. The nation should go green as a part of everyday life.
4. Use paper bags instead of plastic shopping bags
5. The maintenance of proper infrastructure regarding waste management.
6. Regulating health care regarding environment diseases
7. Regulating monitoring the industries about waste disposal
8. Spreading public awareness regarding eco-friendly environment
9. Ensure and monitoring situation of city
