Bayanihan Efforts Against COVID-19

Introduction:

Since the declaration of World Health Organization (WHO) of COVID-19 as global


pandemic on March 11 of the current year, extensive efforts of countries worldwide were
implemented to contain the spread of the disease. Part of the extensive efforts is the strict
implementation of quarantine or lockdown. In the Philippines, President Duterte placed the
entire Luzon under enhance community quarantine since March 16 and further extended it until
April 30, in the hopes of containing the virus. As a consequence, many Filipinos have been
affected by the act causing lost of jobs and source of income, which in majority have affected
mostly the so-called “poorest of the poor”. However, having empathy as innate nature of every
Filipinos through Bayanihan culture, people of different walks of life shared kindness – in a form
of money, relief or services, flooded from the people who consider themselves excess of some
resources, which includes us the PSU-Urdaneta Campus MAED Science Students.
This report summarizes the efforts of the individual MAED Science students’ shared
efforts in helping other Filipinos in need of help amidst this pandemic
