Detailed Report (Central Utility)

• Jaw General Condition is Okay.

• Contacts are Clean and No Physical
Damage is observed. No sign Arcing
or Flashing.
• Properly Lubricated.
• Jaw Gripping Spring Tension is Okay.
• Natural Shine is there upon the
insulation and no sign of tracking.
• Slight Formation of Dust is observed
and immediately cleaned.
• PVC Debris of Control Cable is
observed which might be resultant of
previous Maintenance. Immediate
Clearing was performed.
• All Space Heaters are Okay except of
TR1 Feeder, Those were replaced
immediately and all heater’s
resistance were checked.
• Condition of Silica Desiccant is okay.
No discoloration observed.
• PT Fuses were checked and was seen
in blown off condition in two phases
i.e. R and B.
• Heavy Oxidation was Observed at PT
Fuse Contacts due to which Failure
might have been happened.
• Further Check Up suggested that
Spring Tension at PT Fuse was low in
both phases compared to Y Phase.
• Spring Tension was enhanced.
• New PT Fuses were installed of 36kV,
3.15 A and PT Casing and Terminal
was cleaned.
• PT Neutral to Earth Links were Found
Broken in all 3 Phases. Breaking
reason has not been established yet.
It might have happened due to
mechanical stress as thickness is
very low (0.45 mm)
• The Neutral to Earth Links were
replaced and restored by Cu Flexible
2.5 SQMM Cable Links with 2.5
SQMM Cu Lugs.
• Proper Tightening with Spring Lock
Washer was provided to prevent
Looseness from Vibration caused by
Magnetostriction.
• PT was tested for IR Value.
o R Ph – 18.1 GΩ
o Y Ph – 6.95 GΩ
o B Ph – 135 MΩ
• CT Metering and Protection Core
Analysis was done by Vendor
System Protection and will be
covered in a separate report.
• Primary and Secondary Injection
Testing was completed.

• Slight discoloration was observed in

Incomer Joint Kit Insulation.
• No sign of Loose Contact or Signs of
Arcing/Flash Over or Tracking.
• CT Along with Cable’s IR Value was
Tested for Incomer (Phase – Earth)
o R Ph – 18.2 MΩ
o Y Ph – 18.4 MΩ
o B Ph – 19.1 MΩ
Detailed Report (Unit 4)

• Jaw General Condition is Okay.

• Contacts are Clean and No Physical
Damage is observed. No sign
Arcing or Flashing.
• Properly Lubricated.
• Jaw Gripping Spring Tension is
Okay.
• Natural Shine is there upon the
insulation and no sign of tracking.
• While testing IR Value (5kV
Injection) of Incomer Cable, slight
arcing in the contacts was
observed in Y and B Phase. It was
established that those are due to
lose contacts. This has resulted in
a Heated Phase Barrier Plate.
Refer Left Photograph.
o R Ph – 366 MΩ
o Y Ph – 6 MΩ
o B Ph – 12 MΩ
• Retightening was done, Y and B
Phase Terminal was found loose,
in all 3 Phases. Again, IR Value was
tested. Below are the results.
o R Ph – 87 MΩ
o Y Ph – 16 MΩ
o B Ph – 18 MΩ
• Still corona discharge was
observed from the inside of the
Joint Kit Insulation while injecting
5 kV. This might be result of
derated heat shrunk insulation.

• It is being planned to change as

soon as possible. (Target Date: 18th
Aug)
• It was assumed one PT fuse was
blown as Voltage was not being
measured in one phase. But upon
inspection it was seen that heavy
oxidation was present in Fuse
Terminals. No fuse was blown.
Terminals were cleaned properly
and refitted. By design there’s no
spring cover support for Fuse
Terminals. Hence Contact Area and
Pressure might be variable around
PT Fuse. Need to procure asap.
• Signs of Tracking were observed in
One PT (R Phase).
• Upon IR Value (Phase-Earth)
Checking following results were
obtained.
o R Ph – 8.92 GΩ
o Y Ph – 12.2 GΩ
o B Ph – 28.2 GΩ
• All results are satisfactory. PTs
were cleaned properly. Reason of
Tracking to be investigated.
