Leadership and culture both are related to each other in a very significant manner. A good
leader always promotes a good corporate culture which helps the organization to accept
changes easily and without late in order to cope-up with the changing environment. Whereas
an ineffective leadership will not be able to maintain a good corporate culture and it will result
in commotion when organization will try to implement any changes then employees will not
accept the changes easily.

Example : Narayana Health

Narayana Hrudayalaya (Narayana Health) is a chain of multi-specialty hospitals spread across


India founded by Doctor Devi Shetty. Narayana Hrudayalaya provides best services in a low
cost. The main objective of Narayana Hrudayalaya is to serve. Dr. Devi Shetty is himself a very
famous and respected cardio surgeon.

DR. Devi Shetty himself led the foundation of company and created Narayana hrudayalaya. His
main agenda was to make available all the medical facilities as cheapest as possible. However in
order to do so he has to make a team whose purpose was not to gain benefit from medical
services but those who wants to serve and provide services. The leader Dr. Devi Shetty himself
performs the surgery along with others and creates a atmosphere of providing services instead
of earning profit. With the help of his fellow teammates he started this hospital chain and now
it runs successfully in many parts of the country.

The hospitals uses economy of scale to lower its cost and doctors writes maximum generic
medicines to further lower the cost. Both DR. Devi Shetty and other doctors of hrudayalaya
prescribe generic medicines which show the level of dedication. And suppose if DR. Devi
himself prescribed fancy medicines instead of generic ones and took a huge amount of salary
and profits from the company then other doctors belonging from same institute would accept
the same? So leading by his own example Dr. Devi Shetty successfully implemented leadership
and created a good corporate culture to develop the strategies to provide lower costmedical
facilities.
