Company and Innovation

The company that has been chosen for the purpose of this assignment is “Marks and Spencer”
which is a multinational retailer that originated in Britain and has been performing their business
globally across several countries in the world. It has been recorded as one of the top ten
companies operating in UK that have taken up innovation as its main way of success.

The innovation taken up by “Marks and Spencer” is filling their stores with “greener and leaner
machines”. Thus the major approach is to have a systematic sustainability and hence contribute
as less as possible in pollution across the world. The company has also created their latest mobile
to increase sales for which the customers do not have to reach their stores for the purpose of
shopping. This is another major step of the company towards increasing sustainability[ CITATION
Fas14 \l 16393 ].

The Project Plan

The main aim of project management is to bring a change for the success of the company
through the help of the organizational goals, values and objectives. Therefore, the project plan
will involve the steps of “Marks and Spencer” to make the project management of bringing
innovation in the form of sustainability successful. Thus it forms one of the most important
features of project management as it works as the direction map that the project management
team would follow to implement the change successfully[ CITATION Tea201 \l 16393 ]. The steps of
the project plan would include the following:

 Defining the main parameter: This would indicate identifying and sharing the main
goals of the project and giving it a name. The team would also have to be chosen and
every details of the project would be shared to them.
 Identification of major milestones: The milestones will involve all the tasks that have
to be accomplished serially for the successful completion of the project.
 Adding sub-tasks and providing a timeline and duration: This would involve
breaking the major tasks into smaller tasks and creating a time frame for achieving each
of them. Each team member will be involved in accomplishing those sub tasks within the
stipulated deadline provided for each.

 Assigning the team members: It would be now the decision of choosing the team
members as peer the need of the tasks and allotting the job responsibility to each one of
them.
 Specification of dependencies: When each of the team members will know their own
job role they have to be told about the inter connection of each of the tasks and letting
them know that delay in one task would lead to the delay in others. Therefore, they will
maintain the work flow with accuracy leading to successful completion of the
project[ CITATION Vad20 \l 16393 ].
