Brittany Kendrick: Personal Statement

When I was younger I always wanted to pursue a future in the medical field. I always knew I wanted to
do something along the lines of helping others. Growing up, my grandparents were a huge part of my
upbringing and I always looked up to them. My grandmother was such an inspiration to me by taking
care of her mother the way she did during her years of aging and everything that that entails. Also my
grandfather had to take on the role of caring for his father, my great grandpa through his years of
Alzheimer’s disease. Watching my grandparents show their love and support when their loved one was
so helpless and struggling is what really made me grow up with the intentions of caring for others in my
career. I have chosen to pursue a career in Radiography, to help patients in need of imagining of internal
issues.

Currently, I am attending State College of Florida: Manatee-Sarasota, with intentions of graduating with
an A.S. degree majoring in Radiography. I am currently enrolled in four classes and almost to the finish
line for my first semester in college. Outside of schooling, I am a stay at home mom of two little girls
ages three and four. I decided to pursue a career to better the lives for my children and ensuring that
they have a stable foundation to grow on. As an adult now, I have done a lot of reflecting on my
childhood and it has drove me to strive for a life-time full of happiness and that starts with college
education in my situation.

I plan to finish my schooling and start a career in the Radiography field in my state. After being in the
field for some time I would like get an opportunity to advance in my skill sets and enroll in additional
schooling focusing on specialized radiography needs like sports injuries. Specified injuries interest me
because all injuries are unique.

After graduation I would love to work in a hospital, where I would be caring for patients with needs of
imagining. There is always a demand and essential need for radiography in the medical field. I look
forward to becoming a part of that medical team.
