Tamondong Engl 04 4-5:25 MWF HENERAL LUNA (Reaction Paper)
“A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something
bigger than oneself.” Provocative, daring, and brave, these are the words that immediately came to my mind during and after watching the fi lm entitled “Heneral Luna.” With the present fi lm industry, who would have thought that such a masterpiece can come about? Excellent cinematography, one can feel the eff ort, time, and dedication, the team did to produce such as work of art. Funny, serious, and gore, the movie does not screen out the bad events the Filipinos experienced during the American colonization. & loved how the Filipino youth was introduced in the film through the eyes of a young boy named “'joven.” (His shows how the youth of our nation has been wanting to know more, and how the colonizers have shot their ears and hands to prevent further knowledge that can lead to independence I am so emotional while I’m watching the movie of General Luna who characterized by John Arcilla. It is a true to life story about our Filipino hero that give his life for our nation. This story tells also about what is the truth between the Filipino’s and to the Americans. I am so amazed here because I think it shows that don’t so blind for the truth on our Philippine history. When I was a kid, my grandfather asked me about the heroes of our country but he told to me that one of the hero and a president that don’t deserve to be respected and to be known as a hero because of being a traitor is Emilio Aguinaldo. Because of what my Grandfather told me, I realized that because on the movie of Gen. Luna, I figured it out that Aguinaldo is the person behind the death of Antonio Luna. I also see here that Aguinaldo is not a brilliant person compare to Luna who is a good leader to make plans and a wise person to do something against American soldier to stop their cruelty. Then Luna is one of the heroes who give us an independence against US Regime but it never happened because they kill him in the Cabanatuan City. The movie is a real eye opener. & felt sad, angry, and even almost hostile towards my fellow countrymen who betrayed Luna. It is true, “May Malaki tayong kalaban kaysa sa mga amerikano, ang ating sarili,” the real enemy of the Filipinos are their fellow F i l i p i n o s . U n l e s s t h e r e i s n o u n i t y a m o n g ourselves, how can we expect our country to be a pity that betrayal and corruption are evident before, which led to our defea t independent and win against the invader. It is such against the Americans. However, what’s truly saddening is that all these terrible things are present even now. True, it is hard to think of the country especially when your own interests have not been granted yet. Everyone has needs, a lot more if you have your own family. Some might choose their family and own interests over the good of the country, while some might give their all for their beloved nation. Heneral Antonio Luna is one of the latter. He is a certified nationalist, a great general, but his temperament caused him to have enemies, both local and foreign. Therefore, as a student belong to the present generation, I am so proud to say that I respect those heroes that are truth and give there life to fight for the Philippines like Gen. Luna and others but Aguinaldo never belong to them. I also want to tell that this movie about Gen. Luna is so very spectacular movie that gives a moral values because it shows here about family, discipline and faithfulness in sour God. But the last thing that I can say is, what if Gen. Luna don’t die? Is our loving nation never have a relationships to American? And maybe the Philippines are not like now that are dependent and been ties to US. So don’t forget our Philippine history, because what if we are in Luna’s situation or the other heroes’ situation, are we going to choose between our, BAYAN O SARILI.
