Influencing each other is one of the most common ways on building a strong
bond together and grow in dissimilar aspects of our life. Community is defined as a
group of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic in common.

Belief is something that a person considered to be true without having any proof
or evidence. We all have different beliefs in our lives, depending on what our parents
taught us. For example, in religion, Muslims aren’t able to eat pork while Iglesia ni Cristo
considered as eating blood is a sin, unlike in other religions that they do not have such
rules. Despite having differences we should just enjoy our similarities and respect our
differences.

Values is somewhat related to ethics, it is the determiner of one’s actions and

choices. It is also defined as the behavior or the attitude of an individual that may
influence an entire community. People adapt different values through interacting to
other people who possess different traits and characteristics. Evaluation among people
is a necessity because even we adapt their values and actions this will lead to our own
betterment and remain our old self.

Norms is a standard or pattern of rules and regulation that is being accepted by

majority in our community. Just like on what we prepare to go to school, elders trained
us to eat our breakfast first before taking a bath, while other parents instructed us to
take a bath first before we eat our breakfast. People have different way of living it is just
how you handle things and del with the situation.

Symbols is a mark or sign that used as a representation of an object or an idea.

There are many trending sign languages, wherein once you see that sign you already
the meaning of it. Just like in Korean dramas they use finger heart to represent mini
heart. Through this, we can understand each other easily and make things simply

Truly that non-material aspects such as values, beliefs, norms and symbols in
our community is part of our culture and contributed of who we are for today. Though
we are adapting these non-material aspects we do still have our own perceptions as an
individual. Hence, it may influence us but it is still on or own hands on how will these
affect us-positively or negatively.
