Safety, Risk & Loss Prevention Engineering
Human
Factors
Engineering
3Days Training, Lahore

Timely integration and knowledgeable application of Human Factors Engineering principles and
techniques throughout the project lifecycle is vital to achieving optimal human performance and
safety in any complex system. It is also vital in identifying risks and effective control measures
implemented to mitigate those risks, evidence of which is documented in the Safety Case.

There is an increasing emphasis on the importance of managing human factors – how the people, the
job and the organization interact as a whole – to achieve improved safety and business performance
in the chemical process industries.

This course is aimed at providing a high level overview of the topic of human factors, with particular
focus on major accident hazards. The course will be a combination of PowerPoint presentation, video,
hands-on workshop and discussion.

Following the course, attendees will have an awareness of the subject and will be able to identify
some practical interventions they can make at their workplace to improve the management of human
factors in relation to the control of major accident hazard risks

About the Course Leader

Andy Brazier - Risk consultant specializing in human factors and
ergonomics. Predominantly in major hazard industries, working with clients to assess and
manage from initial project concept, through detailed design and early operations through
to business as normal. Andy is often involved in managing the risks of change. Andy also
work in lower hazard industries where the client is interested in developing sensible
systems for managing risks to avoid excessive paperwork by taking effective action
instead.

Andy’s specialties are Major hazards, human error, management systems, procedures, task analysis, risk
assessment, staffing arrangements, risk assessment, human factors engineering.

QRA
Quantitative
Risk
Assessment
04 Days Training, July 2018 Karachi / Islamabad

Design and operation of facilities handling flammable & toxic material require an understanding of consequences & likelihood of loss
of containment event. In some countries it is legal requirement to carry out a QRA of facilities & operations and demonstrate that
major accident risks are managed to ALARP.

QRA is a specialized technique for determining risk to

personnel from major accident hazards. QRA helps
Engineers and Management in understanding
consequences and impacts of fires, explosions and
toxic releases on personnel, and equipment. Major
design and operations decision require knowledge of
consequences and likelihood of major accident
events. Risk to personnel, business and environment
shall be kept As Low As Reasonably Practicable. Risk
is generally presented as Individual Risk Per Anum
(IRPA), Societal Risk and Risk Contours

This course is aimed at training the participants in

applying QRA techniques to eliminate Hazards and
reduce risks to people, assets, environment and
reputation. Develop event tress, jet fire, flash fire and
pool fire, Vapor Cloud Explosions, and Toxic
dispersion scenario consequence models and assess
impact on Humans, Equipment & Structures and
Buildings. Demonstrate ALARP based on QRA results
and do a Cost Benefits Analysis (CBA).

This course is based on TNO and CCPS guidelines for

Quantitative Risk Analysis.
