Q) Find the Normal Contact Force on m2.

FBD of m1 and m2 

Using Force Equations 

Q) Find the acceleration of the blocks.

Consider
-along the plane as X Axis
-perpendicular the plane as Y Axis
If vector value comes out negative, it means the
direction we assumed in the question is opposite
to the actual direction.
FBD of 5 KG Block FBD of 10 Kg Block
Vectors Application in NLM
Q) Find the acceleration of the blocks.

Applying Force equations

Few more important points to be kept in mind-

-acceleration is along the direction of incline
and hence we write force equation along the
incline.
-Acceleration of both the blocks is same as
they are pushing each other.

Final Answer  -8/3 m/s2 i.e. Down the

incline with 8/3 m/s2 ;(N = 100/3 N)
Vectors Application in NLM
Q) Find the acceleration of the blocks.

Consider-
-Along the inline as X Axis
-Perpendicular to the incline as Y Axis

FBD of 5 Kg Block FBD of 10 Kg Block

Vectors Application in NLM
Q) Find the acceleration of the blocks.

Applying Force Equations-

But this is wrong. How?
When we calculate value of N (Normal
Contact Force). It is coming negative.
But negative means opposite to the
direction we assumed.
But N can only be pushing force, it
cannot pull. Hence value of N cannot
be negative.
Vectors Application in NLM
Q) Find the acceleration of the blocks.

Again applying Force Equations-

Since N cannot be negative, so only
possibility is N = 0
Redrawing FBD and solving we get-
a1 = 6m/s2 down the incline
a2 = 1 m/s2 down the incline
Vectors Application in NLM
Q) Find the acceleration of both blocks
in both cases.

Part (A)-

Ans-
a= 10 m/s2
Vectors Application in NLM
Q) Find the acceleration of both blocks
in both cases.

Part (B)-
In this Tension force is coming
negative which is not possible as
Tension is pulling force and can never
push.
So following will be correct solution of
B.
a1 = 30 m/s 2
a2 = 0 m/s 2

-Along the inline as X Axis
-Perpendicular to the incline as Y Axis
