Reflection:
This was my second experience in online teaching practice. I prepared a short story for grade six
students, which was "The Needle Tree". My objectives were to listen, understand the overall
meaning of simple texts or stories and to identify the story elements. I started the by presenting
some pictures to give the students an idea about the topic of the lesson. Then, I explained the
elements of the story using pictures, examples and definitions, which was one of my strength
points. Studies emphasized that visual aids are an effective tools, which can be used to attract
students' attention, engage them and enhance their comprehension (Jandhyala, 2017).

In addition, after allowing the students to watch and listen to the story, I asked them some
questions relevant to the story to check their understanding, which I believe it was another point
of my strengths. Because Moss (2019) clarified that asking questions is a powerful device that
teachers can use to assess their students' prior knowledge and understanding of the new
concepts. Moreover, I prepared a summative assessment based on my objectives, in which
students needed to understand the overall meaning of the story and its elements to be able to do
the final worksheet. Because I did not have the time to check all of students understanding
during the online class, I asked them to email me their worksheet, in which I grade them and
provide them with feedback.

Unfortunately, technology is something that cannot be trusted; I faced a problem with playing
the video. When the video started, students could not hear anything, which made me send the
link of the story to students and asked them to watch it by themselves and this wasted my time.
Therefore, in my future online lessons, I will make sure that everything is working such as, the
PowerPoint and the sound of the videos to save my lesson time on implementing something
useful.
