Content Standard 2.1 Addition of any two up to five numbers.
Learning Standard (i) Add any two, three, four and five numbers up to six digits with the sum until 1 000
000 including making estimation.
Learning Objective Pupils able to add two, three, four and five numbers up to six digits (5)
Success Criteria Pupil will be able to answer simple addition questions (individual)
Pupil will be able to add six digits with the sum until 1 000 000 including making
estimation. (iindividual)(in pair)
Pupil will be able to write real life problems involving addition (in group) ( individual)
Activity 1. Pupils solve simple addition questions.
2. Pupils will explain meaning of subtraction and state the key words for addition in Tamil
and English. (I-think / traffic light card)
3. Pupils read the story shown in television and try to solve the problem in the story by
identifying information given.
4. Pupils write mathematic sentences for the question given.
5. Pupils add six digits with the sum until 1 000 000 including making estimation
6. Pupils discuss few high order thinking questions. (Cooperative/ traffic light card).

7. Pupil’s in-group write a story for simple mathematic sentences and discuss in class
8. Pupils present their work in class. Others groups give comments and do correction if
necessary. (Collaborative).
9. Teacher give rewards to group that perform well. (reward chart)
10. Pupils do exercise in the given worksheets. Teacher guide and check pupil’s answer
11. Pupils will continue with extra questions after finish the worksheet. (anchor activity)
12. Teacher rotate around the classroom and assist struggling students.  Pair struggling
students with students who have a strong understanding of the concepts presented.
