THE PROMOTION

1. If you were Richard what would you do in response to the situation?

As a manager, I will discuss the issues surrounding the organization in


order to shape the perceptions and attitudes of every employees and
understand why employees’ perceptions and attitudes are important to the
management. Public relations, internal marketing, reward systems, training,
procedures, employee communications and involvement are all used to give out
and reinforce the desired attitude and perceptions that management seeks. The
significance of person perception is that it provides the basis for the
understanding and interpretation of other people. In an organization, it is
important because it determine the ways in which managers and employees
relate to each other and it interprets the behaviors and intentions of the other.

2. In what ways could an understanding of perception, attitudes and


impression management assist in helping to deal with the situation?

Individuals bring a number of differences to work. They have a variety of


personalities, values, and attitudes. When they enter into organizations, their
stable or transient characteristics affect how they behave and perform.
Understanding perception, attitudes and impression will help to improve
the employees working environment and create the awareness about the
environment management system. In organizational behavior and business,
perception often helps shape a person's personality and how they act in certain
situations. These can affect how they respond to certain things like stressful
situations, their performance at tasks, and even their creativity. For

management, paying attention to personality traits in employees can help them


determine the person's work ethic and strengths. That is, if the manager's

THE EVOLUTION OF A UNION BRANCH

1. Could senior management have used the groups within the organization
more effectively to deal with the situation? If so how? Remember that
there would be financial and budgetary constraints on what could actually
be done in any one year.

The effectiveness of a work group is influenced by environmental factors,


design factors, and task-related interpersonal processes. Yes, senior
management could use the groups within the organization more effectively to
deal with the situation by recognizing and understanding group dynamics and
development, recognized and address common barriers to team effectiveness,
understand how to organize effective teams and build and maintain cohesive
teams.

2. What would you have done if you had been a senior manager of the
company, knowing that the salary system was not working as intended?
Could the problems have been avoided? How?

It is important for every management to recognize the importance of


their subordinates. A comprehensive compensation strategy can be the
foundation for creating an environment that recognizes and rewards employee
performance and helps to establish a strong culture of employee engagement.
Compensation strategies can positively influence employee engagement and
improve employee productivity. Many organizations use benefit packages, in
addition to salary, to attract and retain employees. One of the reasons why

employee have stayed in the company is because the benefits are too good to
walk away from. Every employee has the right to know their benefit and
remuneration package entitled to them for the work and services they rendered
to the organization. If I were the senior manager of the company, I would be
transparent to my subordinates and let them have an awareness on their rights
for the company. Organizations are only as successful as their approach to
hiring the right people, setting clear expectations, managing performance and
recognizing and rewarding employees for a job well done
