and quadrilateral

Rotation, reflection and translation of shapes (rotation will no longer be taught under the new
curriculum from September 2015)
Tell the time from a 12- or 24-hour clock and calculate time intervals
Draw and interpret line graphs, bar charts, pie charts and pictograms
Calculate the mean, median and mode average, plus the range (from September 2015, only the mean
will be taught, in Year 6)
Two factors of 90 are added together to make another factor of 90. What are the two factors?
What am I? I am a multiple of 4. I am between 25 and 50. I am also a multiple of 10.
Two square numbers are added together to make a multiple of 9. What could the two square numbers
be?
36 has two factors which are prime numbers. What are they?
Two square numbers are added together to make another square number. What are they?
There are 20 children in a playground. The ratio of boys to girls is 2:8. How many boys are there in the
playground?
There are 63 children in a playground. For every 2 children wearing black shoes there are 5 children
wearing brown shoes. How many children are wearing black shoes?
There are 45 children in a playground wearing brown shoes. For every 5 children wearing brown shoes
there are 2 wearing black shoes. How many children are wearing black shoes?
For every 2 children in a playground wearing black shoes there are 5 children wearing brown shoes.
There are 18 children wearing black shoes. How many children are wearing brown shoes?
There are 15 sweets in a jar. One in every 5 sweets is cherry-flavoured. How many sweets are cherry-
flavoured?
2 eggs
200g of flour
100g of butter
You could work this out by thinking about what both numbers 24 and 36 are divisible by. They are both
divisible by 12. Since 12 is half of 24, you could halve all the ingredients to find out the ingredients
needed to make 12 cupcakes, which would give you:
Since we need to make 36 cupcakes and 36 is three times 12, we can just multiply each of these
ingredients by 3 to make:
There are 56 bananas in a box. Two in every seven of them are bruised. How many are bruised?
3 x (7-3) =
2 + 3² =
3 x 10 ÷ 2 =
6–2+5=
30 – 2 x 5 =

We explain what the different 2D and 3D shapes are, when primary-school children are taught to name
them and sort shapes according to their properties and when they learn to identify and draw their own
nets of 3D shapes.

Throughout their time at primary school, children will be taught about various 2D (two-dimensional) and
3D (three-dimensional) shapes.
The first thing they need to learn is the difference between 2D and 3D shapes. Teachers will often talk
about the fact that 2D shapes are 'flat' and 3D shapes are not. Children are expected to be able to name
these shapes, and also discuss the properties of these shapes.

each of the five small jugs?

The mode is the value that appears most often in a set of data. In this case, the mode is 9 seconds.
The mean is the total of all the values, divided by the number of values. To find the mean, we add up all
the results and then divide them by the number of swimmers:
9 + 11 + 9 + 15 + 12 + 9 + 10 = 75
The median is the middle number in a list of numbers ordered from smallest to largest.
The range is the difference between the lowest value and the highest value, so the range here is 15 - 9 =

If she puts her hand in the box and takes a shape without looking, what is the probability that she will
take out a triangular shape?
The chance of the spinner landing on an even number when she spins it is 3/6, which can be simplified
to 1/2.
