Q-4

Draw the perspective projection of the steps shown in Figure - 4. The bottom corner A is 20 mm behind the Picture Plane (PP) and 10
mm to the LEFT of the observer. The edge AB is at 30° (clockwise) to the PP. The Eye Level of the observer is 60 mm above the ground
and the observer is stationed 80 mm in front of the PP. Choose the station point on the vertical line Y-Y to make perspective. Use the
given Picture Plane (PP) and the Ground Line (GL). DO NOT DIMENSION. USE 1:2 SCALE.

Auxiliary Views
Six views are necessary to fully describe the shape
of each surface.
Four views are normal views.
The two remaining views are auxiliary views.
Projection of Lines
 Definition: A line may be defined as the path or locus
of a point moving through space.

 A line may be located in space by specifying two

points on it. If the two points are located in two
adjacent orthographic views, the points are fixed in
space and the line passing through these two points
therefore has its direction in space determined.

 A line is considered to be of infinite length, and the

portion between any two points on it simply specifies
a segment.

 The space direction (bearing and slope) and one point

will also locate a line.

 A straight line segment is the shortest distance between

its end points.
