1. What are the issues affecting the people of Barangay Vitas?

Enumerate and briefly explain each.

The film tackles multiple issues regarding the inhabitants of

Barangay Vitas and how these problems have affected their daily
living. In the beginning, the film shows the plight of children living
within Barangay Vitas. Due to poverty and unemployment, majority of
the children are forced to find work to support their family’s finances.
Moreover, it shows the poor living conditions that members of the
community encounter such as overcrowding, overpopulation, poor
sanitation, lack of resources, and faulty housing.

Due to the reluctance of the people to relocate, the small

industrial area is overcrowded and overpopulated. These two are also
factors in diseases transmission, coupled with poor sanitation and
lack of resources, living in Barangay Vitas becomes a health hazard.
Lastly, the high unemployment rate of members of the community is
also linked to increased crime rates and use of illicit drugs as was
shown in the film.

2. Discuss the main issue, its challenges/hindrances/tensions, and

proposed way-outs or solutions.

The underlying main issue in the film, in my opinion, is the

overcrowding, overpopulation, and rampant poverty that the
inhabitants of Barangay Vitas encounter in their everyday lives. The
proposed solution of the NHA is to relocate the masses living in this
area towards established housing in the provinces, where they maybe
able to begin anew. However, the members of the community complain
of substandard housing and the lack of job opportunities in these
areas. A representative of the NHA clarified in the video that the
members of the community will be given housing for their families and
that the housing provided are of good quality. However, due to their
preconceived notions that the housing provided are of poor quality a
representative of Barangay Vitas stated their lack of desire to move to
the housing provided.
