PART ONE//
INT: WAITING ROOM
Shadman is having a light reading in the waiting room,
unbothered by his surroundings. The waiting room is
practically empty with only the sound of the magazine pages
flipping and the flickering of the lights reflecting on the
painting right above his head. His hair is a little messy
but he didn’t seem to care; He just wanted to get done with
the appointment as quickly as possible. Suddenly, the
silence is interrupted by the sound of footsteps approaching
the waiting room.
To Shadman’s surprise, an unexpected guest walked in- his
ex.
He hides his face with the magazine, slouching down in the
sofa.
The guest takes the sit next to him while squinting
curiously.

NAWAR
Shadman? Ohmygod- Hi!
Shadman slowly slouches up from his Magazine.
SHADMAN
Oh-hey! What a surprise!
They both start laughing awkwardly at each other.
NAWAR
Yeah…yeah- well how have you been? Its
been a while, right?
SHADMAN
Yeah it has. I have been- y’know- I’ve
been alright. Looks like we have the same
doctor, huh?
They both look around the room, expressions tight. Nawar
nods-

NAWAR
-Oh yeah ha-ha. We do… so, what’re you
here for?
SHADMAN
Um…well, regular checkup-
The speaker rings across the room, calling for Shadman to
enter the doctors chamber.
SHADMAN (CONT’D)
Uh I guess I have to go, see you around?
Shadman gets up from the sofa, waving his hand goodbye.
NAWAR
Yeah…of course. Okay bye.

PART TWO//
INT: DOCTOR’S CHAMBER
Two patients are already sitting inside the doctor’s
chamber. The nurse is standing obediently next to the doctor
who is busy writing a prescription; Patient One is already
crying and is eagerly waiting to storm off to the pharmacy
for a quick antidote to life’s sufferings. Patient two sits
next to him patiently, waiting for her turn.
DOCTOR
I have written down the drugs you need to
get rid of and the drugs you need to
intake in order to stay healthy. Take 2
doses of Napa every morning and night,
here-
Handing over the prescription to Patient One (Badhan) who
snatches the paper and takes a deep breath while sobbing
hard. A knock on the door can be heard and Shadman enters
politely while Badhan rushes out as fast as he can.

The doctor turns her attention to Patient two.

DOCTOR (CONT’D)
Yes, miss Shafrin, you have to stay
hydrated so drink lots of water. I have
also prescribed Napa for you, twice daily.
Thank you.
PATIENT TWO
Can I take more than twice a day?
DOCTOR
Wha-why would you-? Overdosage of
paracetamol is not good, so no-
-Hands over the paper to Patient two (Shafrin) and gestures
the nurse to help her out, but the nurse has her large eyes
frozen to the door. The doctor nudges her and she snaps out
of it as Shafrin leaves the room.
Shadman sits down on the empty chair in front of the Doctor,
rubbing his temples and staring at the nurse, shifting his
eye-sight slowly to the doctor, back and forth.
EXTREME CLOSE UP- Shadman’s tensed eye movements. The
Nurse’s tensed eye movement. Both of their facial
expressions.
Chelsea (the nurse) mumbles to herself:

CHELSEA
…ohh no-!

DOCTOR
Chelsea, please call our last patient
inside.
CHELSEA
Yes ma’am.
The nurse leaves the room hastily and enters with Nawar
after a few seconds.
NAWAR
Hello Doctor Maisha.
She smiles as the Doctor nods and asks her to sit next to
Shadman.
DOCTOR
Well-
She lets out a deep sigh and takes a moment to construct
what to tell her patients.
DOCTOR(CONT’D)
Well, I am afraid I have to give some bad
news. However, before that, I want to ask
if any of you are married-
Gesturing at both Nawar and Shadman.
Surprised at this question, both Shadman and Nawar exchanged
concerned looks and nodded no.
NAWAR
Why do you ask?
DOCTOR
Your test results came in today and I am
afraid you both have the same issue. By
that I mean you both are HIV-positive…
This information came as a blow to Shadman, Nawar and
surprisingly to Chelsea as well.
Tension grew thicker in the room among these three.

EXTREME CLOSE UP- The eye movements.
To show panic between Nawar and Shadman exchanging confused
look as it if was the others fault while Shadman exchanged
his eye contacts back and forth from Chelsea to Nawar.
Chelsea broke into a coughing fit getting dizzy.
Shadman closes his eyes
The doctor glances at them both
Nawar turns her eye at Chelsea, confused.

Who was it?

The sequence of Eye contact continues.
