RCC Mock-up Test- for A1 Concrete

Date of Test : March 6, 2020

Time : 1430 hrs
Weather : Moderate Shower
Ambient Temp : 28.6 deg C
1. Design Mix
a. Design Mix No. :TM-RCC-200229
b. W/C : 0.63
c. Mixing Time : 40 seconds
d. Cement :124 kgs
e. Max Nominal Size Agg. :75 mm

2. Tests
a. Vebee Time : 34 seconds
i. Formed Vertical Surfaces - Low Vebe mix( 10~20 seconds Vebe time)
ii. Unformed Surfaces – Higher Vebe time (20~30 seconds)
b. Nuclear Density Guage by Troxler( See Table-1)
c. Cylinder Samples using Vibrating Hammer( CST results after 28 days)
d. Core Samples( to be obtain after 14 days)
i. Density obtained will be plotted against density obtained from the nuclear density
gauge by troxler for comparison and evaluations.
3. Compaction Method
a. 2- passes without vibration and 5- passes with vibration using 10-ton vibro roller

4. Density (Moisture-Density Ratio Obtained by Nuclear Density Gauge( Troxler- Direct Transmission)
a. Apparent Maximum Density(AMD)- is the maximum RCC density of the approved job mix that
can be attained by compacting the mix with the production roller, it can be determined by
measuring the density of the RCC after it is fully compacted by the production roller.
b. Theoretical Air Free Density(TAFD)- is the computed maximum wet density that can be
attained for a mix assuming there is no air in the mix.

1st Lift 10.5 2358 2134 90.50 %
1st Lift 11.4 2344 2105 89.80 %
2nd Lift 11.1 2346 2113 90.07 %
2nd Lift 11.4 2263 2033 89.84 %
2nd Lift 10.8 2367 2136 90.24 %

Note:
1. It was required that during TEST SECTION trials, the AMD shall be greater than or equal to 98 % of the TAFD, thus
the TAFD must be computed prior to the beginning process for determining the AMD.

2. For the actual RCC it is recommended that the AMD should attain at least 95 % of the TAFD for the water tightness
and durability of the structures.
