Week`s Activity/Assisgnmenr (Title: Pollution)

1. Cost is the greatest obstacle to improving water quality. How would you decide how

much of the cost of pollution control should go to private companies, government, or

individuals?

Water is one of the most important substances on earth. All plants and animals must have

water to survive. If there was no water there would be no life on earth. Having clean water is the

one of the priority of every country.

Everyday we consume water. Water plays a big role in our daily basis, in our home, in

manufacturing food products, and industry companies. Human is one of the big factor that affect

the water quality. Imagine the amount of water being discharge in private companies,

government and other facilities that are using water greatly affect in improving the water quality.

In my opinion, we must conduct an inspection if the private and public companies are complying

to the regulation or they are not following the rules that extremely affect the environment. Thus,

they should be knowledgeable to take an action on preventing, testing and examining to prevent

further damage in the environment.

Therefore, in deciding on how much the cost of pollution control is on what the

behaviour of the private companies, government and individual that will harm and damage the

environment.
2. How would you define adequate sanitation? Think of some situations in which people

might have different definitions for this term.

Sanitation refers to public health conditions related to clean drinking water, treatment and

disposal of human excreta and sewage. Sanitation is one of the most important aspects of

community well-being because it protects human health, extends life spans, and is documented

to provide benefits to the economy.

According to Cambridge Dictionary, adequate means enough or satisfactory for a

particular purpose. Every individual have their own definition of this term based on their

situation, for example some people who are not knowledgeable on what is the importance of

clean and safe water as long as there is water they are fine with it. Thus, people misunderstood

that adequate sanitation have many aspects in terms of the quality of the water to be considered

potable and safe.

3. Imagine yourself in a developing country with a severe shortage of clean water. What

would you miss most if your water supply were suddenly cut by 90 percent?

Water is the number one source of nutrition. The human body is made of 60% water, and

this is a clear enough indication of the importance of water. Humans need to be adequately

hydrated for their physiological systems to function.

Living in a developing country with a severe shortage of clean water damage a lot of

people and the surroundings. The number one that I would miss is probably taking a bath

because the remaining 10% is for drinking. I am blessed that I live on a country that do not

experience the shortage of clean water. We need to be aware and open that someday it might be

happen to us. We need to limit ourselves in consuming water, for example when we are doing
our laundry the used water can be used in watering the plants or cleaning your shoes. Try to

consume 1 bucket only when taking a bath. If every person has that mindset, those little things

can be a big help on preserving the water.

4. There is often a tension between getting your personal life in order and working for

larger structural changes in society. Evaluate the trade-offs between spending time and

energy sorting recyclables at home compared to working in the public arena on a bill to

ban excess packaging.

Environment is everything that is around. It can be living or non-living things.  Environment

plays an important role in the healthy living of human beings. It matters because it is the only home

that humans have, and it provides air, food, and other needs. Humanity's entire life support system

depends on the well-being of all the environmental factors.

Every country`s problem is all about environmental issues. People are not aware or maybe

they are ignoring what our environment status is. We need to be open and start to protect our

environment before it’s too late. Our little effort is a big contribution in protecting our environment.

If every individual start to recycle at home by simply reusing materials, for example instead of

throwing coke bottles in the trash can why not turn them into planter and instead of using plastic bags

use eco bags. If every person learn to recycled and conserved in their home it will be easy for them

when they are outside. Working in the public arena on a bill to ban excess packaging can make more

impact and influence a lot of people compared it at home. This process is not easy because it targets

complimentary results. I suggest that the law should require limitation on using plastic in packaging

because we have to admit that total banning of packaging is not easy.
