PRE REQUISITES

Knowledge: - students should know that:

Glucose is obtained from food and used for energy
Oxygen is obtained from the air via the lungs
Energy is needed for organisms to live and function
We breathe air that contains oxygen

Skill:- students should know how to:

How to write a song
How to make a poster
How to summarize a passage
MATERIALS AND RESOURCES

For Teacher For each group/student

Laptop, projector, whiteboard, marker, speaker, hand-outs, Group 1: phones, pen/pencil, paper
Markers, scissors, Bristol board, glue, 3D model of torso with Group 2: markers, Bristol board, scissors, glue
Respiratory system Group 3: pen/pencil, paper

CONCEPT OR PRINCIPLE

Organs and structures in the respiratory system work together to carry out ventilation and gaseous exchange.

OBJECTIVES
At the end of this lesson, students should be able to :

ACTIVITIES
Introduction:
T- asks students if they can list the structures that make up the Respiratory system.
Ss – may identify the lungs, nose, windpipe
T- there are many other important structures
Transitional statement:
Today we shall learn of these structures in a number of different ways.
I have set up three stations. So we shall split into three groups
Station A: Reading station where you will read for about the structures.
Station B: Media station where you can watch a music video of a song on the Respiratory system
Station C: Tactile station where you can manipulate a life size model of a torso showing the respiratory system

Development:
At each station, each group has 15 minutes to absorb the information at the station then move on to the next
station.
You are free to make notes at each station.
After visiting all stations you have the option of returning to your favourite station and creating the presentation
unique to that station.
Station A: A summary which will be read
Station B: Create your own Respiratory System song
Station C: Create a labelled poster of the Respiratory system

Consolidation:
Each group makes their presentation and students are encouraged to ask questions.

ASSESSMENT:
Make a journal entry on five things your learnt about the topic and one thing you learnt about yourself.
