What makes Samantha an effective friend? Explain how.

Samantha became an effective friend because of how she interacts with others. She has
made friends with other children in the museum, which showed that she is approachable and is
willing to make friends. For us, we think that with the fact that Samantha and her friends met at
the museum, they have a shared interest which made their bond much more effective for one
another. And through out their friendship, it would be impossible that Samantha did not influence
her friends the same way here friends influenced her into becoming a better person. Their
interpersonal relationship made their connection stable and strong, which in turn, makes Samantha
an effective friend.
In what sense are her friends effective for her at the same time? Explain thoroughly.
Similar to how Samantha is effective to her friends, her friends too have been effective for
her especially in her growth and development. As Samantha was forming bonds and friendship,
Samantha developed positive characteristics and have become a much more approachable and
engaged child in a household. Because of the friendship that’s been formed, Samantha looks
forward to meeting her friends which meant that a social aspect in her has been developed. Overall,
Samantha seems to improve much more after she developed this friendship with other children.
What aspects of Samantha’s self were supported? How? Explain thoroughly
As stated in the case of Samantha, her friendship helped her increase her self-esteem and
self-concept, it also helped her cooperation. Self-esteem is usually built, and friends can help you
on that. Friendship makes you realize your value, therefore you’d much more be confident in
yourself. In Samantha’s case, her friends helped her through constant interaction and playing. Self-
concept on the other hand is how a person perceive himself. Through friendship, encourages us to
see what is right and what is wrong. In connection to self-esteem, friends help by aiding in the
concretization of our own values and this is the case for Samantha. Lastly, her cooperation,
children often play and interact with one another which can help develop their sense of cooperation
which can lead to further engagement with different activities, may it be at home or in social
activities. For Samantha, this led her to be much more cooperative to the point that she even
volunteers to help at home.
What school of thought can help explain Samantha’s behavior? Why?
Our group have decided to use Behaviorism since it states that the environment is
oftentimes responsible for shaping an individual’s behavior, which is observable in Samantha’s
case. If we are going to relate this with most of the children or even adults, people feel
better if they have the sense of belongingness in their environment which leads them to change.
This is why people always encourage the children to be part of a group or set of friends that they
think would be a good influence for the child.
