MATHEMATICS CLASS X
PAIR OF LINEAR EQUATIONS IN TWO VARIABLES
PRACTICE MODULE (SUBJECTIVE)

Solve the following questions:

1. Find the value of p and q for which the system of equations represent
coincident lines

2x + 3y = 7,

(p + q + 1)x +(p + 2q + 2)y = 4(p + q) + 1

2. Check whether the system of equations 7x + 3y = 27 and 2x + 5y = 16

have unique solution, no solution or infinite many solution.

3. Check whether the equations 2x + 3y = 7 and 4x + 6y = 16 are consistent

or inconsistent.

4. Find k, if the pair of equations kx + 3y + 1 = 0 and 2x + y + 3 = 0 has a

unique solution.
5. Check whether 5x – 3y = 11 and -10x + 6y = -22 represent intersecting
lines, parallel lines or coincident lines.
6. Solve:
2 2 1
  and
x 3y 6

3 2
 0
x y

7. Solve:
6x + 3y = 6xy and
2x + 4y = 5xy
