Conveyor Types and Their Functions

Every manufacturing facility solely depends on conveyor systems to improve efficiency
through the fast movement of goods and products. Conveyors are simple machines that
mainly consist of a long belt placed between pulleys and used to move bulky goods from
point A to point B at once making it the main tool of trade for manufacturers. They
effectively facilitate the movement of raw materials, finished products, harvest in farms,
rocks in mining, luggage in airports, to just about anything in factories. Just like any
other machine, conveyor systems have evolved to fully automated systems owed to the
technological advances made through recent years.

Using conveyors can have numerous benefits with the top most being improved
efficiency translating to reduction of operational costs. Besides this, they are much
faster compared to using other known means of transport and much safer for both
goods and employees at large. Some even have additional functions such as vibrations
designed to shake up accumulated dust and dirt. Since their invention several years ago,
different types of conveyors have been designed for different uses.

1. What’s the main function of a conveyor?

The main function of a conveyor is to move bulky goods from one point to
another.

2. Write a definition for conveyor.

The conveyor is a tool used to transport products and to facilitate the movement

of raw materials and equipments.

3. Why is important to use a conveyor on industry?

It's important because it improves efficiency and reduces operational costs also
reducing the possibility of ergonomic problems in employees.

4. Mention 3 case of use for conveyor. People can use conveyor:

1. For moving the products in a manufacturing process.

2. In harvest in farms.

3. For moving the luggage in airports.

1. Plastic Materials that are not metals.

2. Glass An inorganic solid material that is usually transparent or
translucent as well as hard, brittle, and impervious to the natural elements.
3. Steel Is an alloy of iron and carbon
4. Aluminium Silvery-white metallic element that is ductile, is found chiefly in
bauxite, and is a good conductor of electricity.
5. Titanium a strong malleable white metallic element, which is very corrosion-
resistant and occurs in rutile and ilmenite.
6. Copper A metallic chemical element that is easily formed into sheets and
wires and is one of the best-known conductors of heat and electricity.
7. Gold A precious yellow metallic element, highly malleable and ductile, and
not subject to oxidation or corrosion.
8. Rubber A tough elastic polymeric substance made from the latex of a tropical
plant or synthetically.

III- Write the following definitions

1. Industrial Engineering: comprehends knowledge in mathematical, physical, and
social sciences together in order to increase the productivity of processes,
achieve quality products and assures Labor safety.

2. Networking Engineering: is a technology professional who has the necessary

skills to plan, implement and oversee the computer networks that support in-
house voice, data, video and wireless network services.

3. Electrical Engineering: focuses on designing, maintaining and improving products

that are powered by or produce electricity.

IV- Write a paragraph talking about the importance of technology for

humankind.
Technology is important for humanity because thanks to this has been designed and
modified systems that make life easier for us. For example today we are going through a
very critical process, the pandemic of covid-19, many families can’t be close to their
loved ones, but through social media ,they can talk and feel at home. Thanks to
technology, great discoveries have been made that have saved lives today. Medicine is
one of the most benefited from technology.
