The teacher found out a girl named Charlotte did not able to write anything within

several minutes, instead she just sat and played with her pencil. Charlotte might not
understand the instructions on how to do assigned task. Hence, the instructions
given by the teacher should be short and clear sentences in order for the pupils to
receive the information. Teacher can demonstrate the desired action and followed
with examples. According to Piaget’s theory (1952) in cognitive development,
individuals are always trying to make sense of the world and try to adapt to the
changes in their surroundings through the thinking process. For this case, children’s
thinking process in influenced by the interaction with the surroundings. They will
explore, observe and organise information to learn and act on the environment.

The other five other pupils were having difficulties to spell correctly. Teacher can help
the children learn to spell in different ways which are by sounding out the word,
breaking the word up into syllables and learning to spell the word by sight. Teaching
children to spell in a fun way will encourage them to learn the words and remember
them. According to Berk (2001), language development facilitates teaching and
learning and it is closely related to reading and writing skills.
