I express my deep sense of gratitude to Haji Rashad

For providing me an opportunity to have my summer training
In their company.im highly thankful to Mr. ahmad who was kind enough to familiarize me to learn what
Should engineer do. And I’m also very much thankful from bottom of my heart to my parents
Without there kindness it could have never be possible
I take this opportunity to thank all respondents who spend their precious time to provide me
With valuable input for project
Introduction

Summer training is training as recommended by all technical universities for all third year student of any branch after them
third year external examination. This training include site visit of live project which are in progress
In this training student see practical example of all the things which they have read in books
The duration of summer training is 4 to 8 weeks as prescribed by universities
The purpose of summer training is to help student to learn practical knowledge about their course
A report is submitted to institution after training which include day by day detail of work.
Project detail

The project that I went for summer training located opposite 120m road
It was 4 story hospital with two story building for garage next to hospital
The name of this hospital is MIHRABANY HOSPITAL
The designer of that project is Dr. omer qarani
And Dr. sirwan kdhir redesigned
Site engineer is Mr. Ahmad
And the contractor is Haji Rasheed
Objective

The overall objective of the summer training is to expose the student to the work environment in the field of civil engineering.
In particular, the summer training program will:
1) enable the students to gain valuable practical experience
2) test the students' career interests.
This 4 weeks of training also enhances our soft skills and meeting so many engineers and learning from them
Makes us confident professional
It also teaches us sense of responsibility, taking initiatives, projecting the innovative ideas and most important management.
I like to talk about these things that I saw and learnt:

Column

A column or pillar in architecture and structural engineering is a structural element that transmits, through compression, the
weight of the structure above to other structural elements below. In other words, a column is a compression member.
at the project we had two types of column square column and circular column obviously the circular column is better because
circular column doesn’t have weak point at sides.
strength of column should be at least 30 MPA
and we tested by hammering rebound test the strength of our columns was 35MPA.
BEAM
A beam is a structural element that primarily resists loads applied laterally to the beam's axis. Its mode of deflection is
primarily by bending. The loads applied to the beam result in reaction forces at the beam's support points
Our beam at the project was (40*40) except one of them is (60*40*) because we don’t have column at interior because the
room was operation room so the beams at operation room should be larger and the larger beam required double stirrup but
the other beam require e only one stirrup.
Slab
The slab is two layer of reinforcement
we use chair between each layer and the height of chair is 9cm
And chair used to properly place reinforcement bars
in position before concrete is put over
The reinforcement used for slab is 12cm diameter
at the slab for 5 reinforcement bar we have one cover.
We leveled the foundation ground by small and large size of stone
Because the stone is good enough for settlement with stone we used some gravel and over the stone we used gravel.
Lean concrete is used to provide a level surface, where main foundation (raft, isolated or any other type) can be placed.
Then we covered the ground foundation by lean concrete because lean concrete provides the uniform surface to the
foundation concrete and to prevent the direct contact of foundation concrete from the soil.
Stirrup are provided to hold the main reinforcement rebar’s together in an RCC structure
and placed at proper intervals to beams and columns to prevent them from buckling
they protect RCC structures from collapsing during seismic activities (earthquakes).
We use these types of stirrup for interior column because interior column carries more loads than column that
located at the edge and these stirrups hold the reinforcement strongly.
These stirrups used for edge column because edge columns don’t carry heavy load.
Plastic pieces would stabilize reinforcement bars and maintain cover thickness of different reinforced concrete elements such
as beams, columns, slabs, and foundations.
if we don’t have plastic cover below the reinforcement link to the formwork.
to know the difference between the column and shear wall we should know the ration of (Longer dimension to
shorter dimension) if longer to shorter is equal or less than 4 its shear walls if longer to shorter less than 4 its shorter that
picture above is shear wall
Conclusion

This six week of summer training at MIHRABANY HOSPITAL generate a lot more interest in my subject it made me aware of
the scope of site engineering. it also made me appreciative of an industrial work environment
Undergoing training on the indoor substation has helped me integrate conceptual knowledge with real life application I have
fortunate to have personal guidance from experienced professionals who took been interest in explaining the working details
of various equipment’s.
I feel that without this opportunity, my own understanding of this subject and also the motivation to require more knowledge
would have remained incomplete.
I think my training has given me enough motivation and an exposure that I will try to join defense service of get linked up with
the defense of the country.
