CEklab 2018
Theme: “Civil Engineering In Focus: Bridging People. Building the Nation.”
 Why is it called “CEklab”?

The idea came from the Filipino word “siklab” which means to ignite or to keep a blaze which
we believe fits the paradigm shift very well. This change in the educational curriculum poses a
challenge both to our aspiring Civil Engineering freshmen as well as our battle-hardened Civil
Engineering seniors. We believe that there is only one flame that keeps the Marian Civil
Engineering heart beating and this flame is carried through the failures and successes of the
senior students.

So as we start this new chapter, with this new challenge of the paradigm shift, we know that
this is the right time to once again set a blaze the flames of determination in each and every one
of the ACES-JPICE members. The determination of the first years to pursue and continue their
studies in the Civil Engineering profession. The determination of the fourth years to keep their
will strong as they unravel more knowledge. And the determination of the fifth years to have a
steady heart as they near another milestone in life.

 OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAM

The program is aimed to immerse the ACES-JPICE community in an activity that will enrich their
intellectual and social well-being. With specific objectives as follows:

1. To promote the students’ enthusiasm towards the Civil Engineering profession through an
inspirational speech, related activities, showcase of school facilities and curriculum and
others
2. To update the students with the current trends in the Civil Engineering profession through
an inspirational speech
3. To develop camaraderie between the students, officers and teacher through enriching
activities and games
4. To promote the activities and help offered by the Association of Civil Engineering Students
– Junior Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (ACES-JPICE)
5. And to “ignite” everyone as a member of the ACES-JPICE family.
