The cleaning schedule should be clear and concise, to enable staff to follow the instructions easily,
thus resulting in the schedule achieving its objectives:
1. What is to be cleaned
2. Who is to clean it
3. When is it to be cleaned
4. How is it to be cleaned
5. The time necessary to clean it
6. The chemicals, materials and equipment to be used
7. The cleaning standard required
8. The precautions to be taken
9. The protective clothing to be worn
10. Who is responsible for checking and recording that it has been cleaned
Monitoring of cleanliness
To ensure that the standards of cleaning are effective and are being carried out they should be
routinely monitored by management or a nominated person.
All checks carried out must be recorded.
