Purpose:
Reporting to the Manager Renovation the Project Coordinator is responsible for liaising with the Planner, technical review and co-ordination of
renovation, alteration, renewal projects and deferred maintenance projects of various scale and complexities at all York University campuses
and leased spaces. Occasionally including minor design of renovation and alteration projects on a small scale. This entails leading, planning,
coordinating and directing the construction process including liaisons with architects, consultants, end user and providing assistance and
problem-solving support as required throughout the project(s). Acts as the owner representative and provides liaison with outside agencies
associated with the project such as the City, Fire Department(s), TSSA, Ministry of Labour (MOL), vendors, consultants, contractors. This
position prepares documents for tendering, quotes, contracts and agreements for signatures and issuance. Assists with the preparation of
schedules and budgets and keeps them updated throughout the life of the projects. Ensures that Contractors adhere to York University Health
and Safety policies and procedures including the Renovation and Construction: Health and Safety Guide for Managers and the
Constructor/Contractor Manual.

Education:
University degree in Engineering or Architecture, or four years recent experience (defined as within the last five years) working at York
University performing the same or similar tasks. This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below. Plus,
registration or eligibility for professional registration.

Experience:
Eight (8) or more years of construction experience, preferably in a post-secondary educational or institutional environment. estimating and
tendering experience is preferred.

Skills:
Demonstrated skills including: knowledge of construction techniques, practices and terminology. Customer service skills. Organizational and
analytical skills. Thorough knowledge of specification preparation. Ability to perform inspections and safety audits. Effective oral and written
communications skills. Knowledge of current safety codes and regulations relative to application on job sites.Ability to establish, develop and
maintain relationships with clients.Preferred skills including: ability to build/develop industry contacts, basic knowledge of engineering
principles and skilled trades.

This position requires the candidate to produce a verification of degree(s), credentials(s), or equivalencies from accredited institutions and/or
international equivalents at the time of interview.

Hours of work: 8:30am to 4:30pm.

Requests to work overtime may occur periodically throughout the year.

Peak periods for this position: Dependent upon volume and schedule of work.Hours during peak periods: As required.Vacation restriction:
Based on operational needs and other staff approved absences.
