and thesauri.

Search techniques:
• Concept consisting of more than one word:
– Phrase search: ”life cycle cost model”

• Term truncation finds everything beginning

with the truncated term:
– product* finds product, products, production,
productive, productivity, productization,
productize…
Boolean operators:

AND OR (NOT)

Evaluating information
• Things to consider:

• Where and when was it published?
• Does it contain citations and a
bibliography?
• Is it scientific (aka objective, well-
studied)?
• Is it peer-reviewed?
• Is it relevant to your research?

Citing sources
• Finnish universities are very
strict about citing sources.
• Citation information must
be provided for all
information that you use.
• Do not copy other people’s
citations!

citations.

Plagiarism?

in your text.

also plagiarism.
