Personnel Rotation and Drug Testing


515.1 PURPOSE
To identify the service time of officers assigned to KVET and to establish Drug Testing procedures.

515.2 PROCEDURE
(a) Length of Service at KVET
1. An officer’s length of service time at KVET is at the discretion of the C.O.P.S.
Divisional Commander and the applicable police agency leader.
2. KDPS Sergeants will be assigned to KVET for a maximum of 5 years (per CBA).
3. The Chief of Public Safety reserves the right to transfer KDPS supervisors as
needed for the good of the organization.
(b) Employee Drug Testing
1. Personnel will be given drug tests prior to transferring to KVET and when leaving
KVET.KVET will cover the cost of such tests.
2. Upon transfer to KVET, personnel shall agree to and sign the Non-Use of
Controlled Substance Statement.
3. While assigned to KVET, sworn and civilian personnel are subject to drug
testing. These drug tests will be within the guidelines of the applicable contract
agreements (KPSOA, KPSA, or other agency).
4. The results of an employee’s drug test shall be made available to the C.O.P.S.
Divisional Commander. The C.O.P.S. Divisional Commander will notify the
KDPS Office of Professional Standards and the applicable agency leader of any
positive test readings.
