Pre-Assessment
• In order to find out student’s background
knowledge and skills and misconceptions, if any;

• a pre-assessment should be administered before


the beginning of a new lesson.

Formative Assessment
 Quizzes are the common formative assessment tools that
teachers use to check for student understanding.

 They are short, easy to administer and can quickly be corrected


even by students.

 The results can be immediately discussed with the students and


used to improve teaching and learning.

 Results should be fed back immediately to be used to


improve learning.
Summative Assessment
 Generally taken place after a period of
instruction and administered at a conclusion of a
unit. (end-of-lesson examination)
