Course Description:
This 3-unit introductory course for teacher education explores the basic knowledge, skills and values in
the use of technology for teaching and learning. It includes foundational concepts on technology in and for
education, technology integration models, ICT policies and safety issues, and theories and principles in
instructional design across content areas. It also tackles the role of technology in the overall operation of an
educational enterprise and on how this is managed.

Learning Outcomes: At the end of the course, the students are expected to:

 Explain the different concepts on: technology in and for education, theories and principles in instructional design, and technology
integration models;
 Identify ICT policies and safety issues that are prevalent in school setting;
 Demonstrate social, ethical, and legal responsibilities in the use of technology tools and resources;
 Develop instructional plan with emphasis on the application of appropriate technology integration model;

2. Quizzes/Finals
2.1 No make-up examinations will be given. All missed quizzes and hands-on exercises will be equivalent to zero.
2.2 All major examinations will be conducted as scheduled by the University Registrar’s Office.
3. Cheating
Anyone caught cheating or trying to cheat in any manner will be given a final grade of 70.
4. Absences
The maximum allowable number of absences is equivalent to 6 class hours. Anyone who exceeds this limit will be given a final
grade of FA (Failed due to absences).
5. Laboratory Use
The policy on the use of ICT facilities shall be observed at all times during computer laboratory sessions. Failure to comply with
the rules set on the use of computer laboratories shall constitute a ground for disciplinary action.
