3. (a) What the relation between free energy and equilibrium constant for any reac-
tion and explain.
(b) At equilibrium of any reaction what is the relation of free energy change and
equilibrium constant and explain. [16]

4. (a) Draw a potential energy diagram for an uncatalyzed reaction. Compare it with
a potential energy diagram for a catalyzed reaction. In each case indicate ∆H
for the activated complex.

(b) A lump of copper having a mass of 5 KG at a temperature of 540 C is dropped in
a well insulated bucket containing 50 Kg of water at a temperature of 200C.If
the specific heats of copper &water are 0.418KJ/Kg 0 C and 4.4 KJ/Kg 0 C
respectively, calculate the change in entropy of the water and copper and
calculate the total entropy change resulting from the process. [16]
