Double shift schedules have been introduced in some high schools due to shortage in
classroom and overcrowding. This is not a new phenomenon, however; Daraga National High
School resorted to double shifts as early as 1998, when school cannot raise the funds to
expand their campuses to accommodate the growing numbers of students. Classes for junior
high schools in Daraga National High School are affected by the lack of classrooms for
senior high school. The new building constructed ( Year ) inside the campus of Daraga
National High School creates a congested environment. The Senior High School was affected
in the sense that they are occupying the same classroom of the Junior High School. Without
new land to expand existing sites or establish new schools for Senior High School, there has
been no place to build additional classrooms.

This study was undertaken to identify the problems encountered of double-shifting

system for the Senior High School students at Daraga National High School . It employed a
descriptive survey in examining respondents through stratified random sampling approach.

Despite the program to address the shortage of classrooms and overcrowding, several
problems in the double-shift session were noted by researchers.
