Question: What are the reasons why there were sponsors and authors in making the

Rizal Bill. Give at least 1.

Answer:

One of the reasons why there were sponsors and authors in making Rizal Law
or otherwise known as RA No. 1425 is to remind us and to commemorate the
substantial contribution of Rizal for our country, the Philippines. He fought for our
nation’s freedom and for everyone’s right in a silent yet powerful. He expressed his
love for the Philippines through his novels, essays and articles rather than through the
use of force or aggression. He served as the light and hope to most Filipinos.

Through his greatest legacies, his novels entitled “Noli Me Tangere” and El
Filibusterismo, he inspired the Filipinos to fight for our Independence, to gain liberty,
especially from the Spaniards because of the atrocities and slavery committed to them
a long time ago. These social commentaries during the Spanish colonization of the
country formed the nucleus of literature that inspired peaceful reformists and armed
revolutionaries alike.

As it was written, Senator Claro M. Recto was the main proponent of Rizal
Bill, the author and one who sought to sponsor the bill at Congress. Also, Senator Jose
P. Laurel did the same thing. Rizal’s peaceful means of reform made him Asia's first
modern nonviolent proponent of political reforms. They believed that Rizal bill would
be an avenue for the youth to understand Rizal's vision and to give knowledge to us
about the oppression suffered by the Filipinos during the Spanish Era. Other than that,
it aims to put Rizal closer to our hearts. Moreover, strengthening not only the Rizal
course but also the subject of Philippine history is so much important too.
