Shift: Morning

Executive Engineer (Operation)

Sirajganj 225 MW Power Plant.
Soydabad, Sirajganj.

Subject: Tripping Report of Sirajganj 225 MW Combined Cycle Power

Plant.

Plant status before trip:

GT was running at 157.5 MW load and ST was running at 80.99 MW load. Grid frequency
was 50.68 Hz. All other systems of GT and ST was running at normal condition.
During Trip:
At 10:35:49 hr. we found that ST is tripped showing the I&C alarm “STG GCB GS001(FKG)
Trip 1” in the ASD.
Later it was found that working thrust liner temperature of the #5 temperature sensor (out of
10) increased to 108 ºC, whose normal value is about 56 ºC. As the other 9 nos. of sensor was
showing almost same and normal temperature, so it is primarily suspected that the trip
occurred for malfunctioning of this (#5) sensor.
After trip, bypass stack damper was closed fully by ST operator. Pressure safety valve was
opened for a long time and steam vented out. Bypass valve and desuperheating water valve
was opened by ST operator.
After Trip:
Sensor connections were checked, cleaned and one cable connector from sensor junction box
to DCS was changed by new (by CMC I&C personnel). Now the ST operators are waiting for
ST inner wall temperature decreasing below 400 ºC to avoid extreme hot start.
On the other hand, GT is running at base load with normal condition.
