Objective
This group discussion is expected to allow participants to collectively review the climate rationale of
their project ideas and strengthen its articulation.

Groups
Participants gather into the following sub-regional groups

Task (75 mins total)
• As a group (7 mins)
1. Assign a group chairperson for your group
2. Read the discussion guidance questions below
3. Of project ideas submitted by countries in your group, select 3 project ideas to discuss
during this exercise
• For each of the three selected project ideas (20 mins total per project) –
1. A country representative describes the project idea to the group (5 mins)
2. As a group, outline the following elements of the climate rationale for the project, with
group participants writing in the colored post-its as noted (10 mins):

i. Describe the climate hazard Pink
ii. Assess vulnerabilities (direct and indirect) Orange
iii. Identify and analyse the problem (that the project will Yellow

iv. Transform the problem to the project objective Green

3. Discuss the climate rationale as outlined (5 mins). What are its -
o Strengths?
o Weaknesses?
o Opportunities for improving?
• Prepare a 5-min report-back to plenary (8 mins). Based on points 2 and 3 above, what were
highlights from your group on –
o The current state of the climate rationale in the three project ideas that the group
reviewed?
o Any needs to strengthen the climate rationale? How?
o Any lessons learned?
