Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan in Music 10

Grade 10 – Crystal
March 03, 2020-Wednesday (2:00-3:00 am)

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, at least 75% of the students must be able to:
1. differentiate the characteristics of Philippine operas, Broadway musical and
Philippine Musical play;
2. listen and sing the songs from 20th and 21st century multimedia forms and;
3. appreciate the important roles of musical genres in the country.

II. Subject Matter


Topic: 20th and 21st Century Multimedia Forms
Instructional Materials: Flat Screen TV &Laptop, PowerPoint Presentation, Speaker

B. Motivation

The teacher will show a video of different


musical genres on the TV screen and the
teacher will ask some follow up questions
regarding the music video played.

C. Lesson Proper

1. Presentation of the topic

At the end of the lesson, I am expecting that you


could differentiate the characteristics of Philippine
operas, Broadway musical and Philippine Musical
play;
listen and sing songs of 20th and 21st century
multimedia forms and;
appreciate the important roles of musical genres in
the country.

2. Discussion of the topic


Using a PowerPoint presentation, the teacher will
discuss and explain the important terms and
characteristics of 20th and 21st Century Multimedia
Forms and its examples.
a. Philippine Opera
b. Musical Plays (Broadway & West End Musicals)
c. Philippine Musical Plays

D. Application
Listening and Singing Activities
Mechanics:

1. The class will be divided into three groups. Each


group will be assigned a category of musical
performance as follows:
Group 1- Philippine Opera
Group 2- Broadway Musical
Group 3- Philippine Musical Play
2. Each group will choose one song that they would
like to perform.
3.With the provided lists of songs from the teacher,
teach group will learn the song and practice singing it
expressively for 5 minutes.
4. Each group may add choreography and use musical
instruments, if appropriate.
5. Perform the group’s song in class. Maximum
allotment is 5-7 minutes.

3. Stage Presence- 20%
4. Stage Discipline and Deportment- 10%
Total= 100%
 The teacher will announce the “Best
Performance” award.

E. Generalization
Let’s sum up what we have discussed this afternoon.
What are the different musical forms of 20th and 21st
century?
What is the characteristic/ difference of Philippine
Opera, Broadway Musical and Musical Play from
each other?

IV. Evaluation

Classify the following songs. Write PO if it is belong


to Philippine Opera songs, BM if it falls to
Broadway Musical songs and MP if it is one of the
song examples of Musical Plays.

V. Assignment
